We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial HVAC Systems Installer in our Corporate Facilities Department supporting buildings throughout San Diego County.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Under limited supervision builds installs retrofits services and repairs HVAC-R equipment and direct expansion and hydronic systems in accordance with applicable building plumbing and mechanical codes laws regulations and manufacturer’s operation and maintenance manuals and safety regulations.
+ Builds installs retrofits services and repairs HVAC-R equipment and direct expansion and hydronic systems in accordance with applicable building plumbing and mechanical codes laws regulations and manufacturer’s operation and maintenance manuals and safety regulations.
+ Inspects and verifies existing equipment to determine HVAC-R needs to meet customer needs.
+ Performs moderate piping repairs of compressed air gas water and condensate drain lines.
+ Installs HVAC-R equipment to include but not limited to condensers evaporators air handlers fan coils variable air volume boxes exhaust fans ducting package units split units heat pumps and related equipment.
+ Installs and repairs refrigerant piping. Utilizes silver brazing and soldering techniques associated to HVAC and piping systems.
+ Repairs and replaces temperature sensors for HVAC systems while making emergency repairs as required.
+ Provides craft guidance and skills training to less experienced staff.
+ Directs daily activities and manage functions on multiple projects to meet construction schedule milestones plans and specifications.
+ Coordinate with other trades and/or occupants on project site with minimal disruption.
+ Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
+ Performs other duties as assigned or required.Job Qualifications:
+ Typically requires a two-year technical degree trade school equivalent military class “C” school or Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) and five or more years of progressive experience as a stationary engineer journeyman HVAC installer or mechanic.
+ Must have troubleshooting experience working on large commercial building systems and be able to thoroughly explain system status to other mechanical professionals so they may successfully perform service needs.
+ Must have experience in the installation of temperature sensors wiring and other typical components.
+ Must have advanced working knowledge of applicable federal state and local safety codes and be able to read interpret and explain schematics.
+ Must have advanced knowledge of HVAC theory and inner-workings and capable of differentiating between operational and non-operational systems and capable of troubleshooting and correcting to operational status.
+ Must have intermediate experience in conducting take-offs material ordering and coordination of projects from design to closeout with supervision.
+ Must be customer focused and possess: (1) a valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record verified by the DMV; (2) EPA certification in refrigerant recovery; (3) excellent interpersonal skills to work with all levels of employees outside vendors and contractors and to train lower level personnel; (4) excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings; (5) the ability to resolve complex issues that require evaluation and interpretation; and (6) excellent knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to the field.
+ Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.Travel Percentage Required:
