We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced 2nd Shift HVAC-R Mechanic to join our Facilities department located in Poway CA.Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Under minimal supervision services modifies rebuilds and repairs the facility HVAC-R equipment and direct expansion and hydronic systems in accordance with applicable building plumbing and mechanical codes laws regulations and manufacturer’s operation and maintenance manuals and safety regulations.
+ Provides craft guidance and skills training to less experienced staff.
+ Conducts preventive predictive and corrective maintenance procedures as assigned. Checks refrigeration system charges performs leak tests and adds refrigerant as needed. Overhauls equipment as assigned.
+ Determines if equipment needs to be overhauled and may overhaul equipment as assigned.
+ Performs inspection and preventative/corrective maintenance of environmental chambers.
+ Troubleshoots and performs preventative/predictive maintenance on water and air cooled chillers.
+ Troubleshoots and performs preventative/predictive maintenance on hot water and steam boilers.
+ Performs moderate piping repairs of compressed air gas water and condensate drain lines.
+ Installs repairs and performs preventative/predictive maintenance of HVAC-R equipment to include but not limited to condensers evaporators air handlers fan coils variable air volume boxes exhaust fans ducting package units split units heat pumps and related equipment.
+ Utilizes predictive maintenance technology to detect possible future failures.
+ Troubleshoots and performs PM’s and maintenance on cooling towers pumps and chilled water systems.
+ Performs pump overhauls shaft alignments and mechanical seal replacements.
+ Installs and repairs refrigerant piping. Utilizes silver brazing and soldering techniques associated to HVAC and piping systems.
+ Repairs and replaces temperature sensors for HVAC systems while making emergency repairs as required.
+ Performs periodic inspection to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions. Conducts maintenance program to prevent failure of plumbing compressors and HVAC systems.
+ Lubricates and properly aligns motors and pumps. Replaces belts pulleys shafts bearings rotors and impellers for motors and pumps.
+ Operates troubleshoots and identifies electrical and mechanical issues via the Building Management System (BMS).
+ Installs troubleshoots and performs simple software configurations and modifications with BMS systems. Performs back-up and program verifications. Able to set-up and create trending data as needed.
+ May function in a leadership role and provide direction to less experienced staff. May direct daily activities and manage functions related to building HVAC-R maintenance and operations.
+ Responsible for observing all laws regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
+ Performs other duties as assigned or required.Job Qualifications:
+ Typically requires a two-year technical degree trade school equivalent military class “C” school or Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) and seven or more years of progressive experience as a stationary engineer journeyman plumber or HVAC mechanic.
+ Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
+ Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of construction industry practices concepts and regulations as well as plumbing heating ventilating and mechanical codes.
+ Must have good knowledge of applicable federal state and local safety codes and be able to read interpret and explain schematics.
+ Must be able to prepare sketches and processes and have a working knowledge of and discretion in safely operating hand and power tools.
+ Must have comprehensive knowledge of Energy Management Control Systems and associated architecture and a comprehensive understanding of pneumatic control systems.
+ Must be customer focused and possess: (1) a valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record verified by the DMV; (2) EPA certification in refrigerant recovery; (3) excellent analytical skills to use Energy Management Control Systems to determine current status of operating equipment and plumbing systems; (4) excellent interpersonal skills to work with all levels of employees outside vendors and contractors and to train lower level personnel; (5) excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings; (6) the ability to resolve complex issues that require evaluation and interpretation; and (7) excellent knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to the field.
+ Ability to work independently or lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.Travel Percentage Required:
