We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Image Processing FPGA Programmer to join our Lasers and Advanced Sensors (LAS) Group located in Rancho Bernardo CA. The successful candidate will join a growing world class exploitation and tracking algorithm and software group developing algorithms software and embedded systems for active passive and multi-spectral optical systems.Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Provide technical leadership to an image processing software team developing embedded software and processing advanced EO/Multi-spectral/IR passive active sensor systems with respect to firmware and FPGA use.
+ Responsible for the real-time implementation of advanced detection and tracking algorithms in state of the art high performance FPGAs for active and passive multi-spectral EO/IR sensors for surveillance targeting and missile defense.
+ Responsible for implementing advanced image processing algorithms on state of the art FGPA hardware as well as control logic and I/O for programs in the GA-EMS LAS group.
+ Develop and implement high performance image processing algorithms on state of the art FPGA architectures with multi-processor and DSP cores.
+ Develop and implement control and I/O firmware functions.
+ Size throughput processing architecture and I/O bandwidth requirements and mapping to available FPGA.
+ Implement software processes and procedures for the development of firmware.
+ Support the rapid prototyping of firmware implementations with Matlab inputs from the algorithm group.
+ Provide schedule tasks and work definitions for firmware and FGPA implementation.
+ Represent GA-EMS LAS SWIPE group to customers internal and external on technical approach and schedule relative to firmware implementations.
+ Identify risks and solutions necessary to meet demanding program schedules recommend approach that moderate risk while meeting overall performance requirements.
+ Provide technical briefings to internal and external customers.
+ Provide technical documents on design and performance analyses.
+ Performs other duties as assigned or required.Job Qualifications:
+ Typically requires a bachelors degree masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelors degree thirteen or more years of experience with a masters degree or ten or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required.
+ Must have experience in developing high performance firmware for multithreaded processing of high throughput image and or signal processing applications.
+ Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles concepts theory and practice as well as project and/or program leadership including organizing planning scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet established project deadlines or milestones.
+ Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles; resolve unusually complex technical problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be a technical expert in one or more areas of engineering.
+ Strong communication presentation and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments all levels of management professional and support staff customers potential customers and government representatives.
+ Customer focused formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
+ Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
+ Able to work extended hours as required.
+ A Professional Engineering License original work(s) published in professional engineering journals invited to present one or more original works to a national or international engineering symposium and invited to Chair engineering review panels as a technical expert are desirable.Travel Percentage Required:
