Under general direction this position is responsible for developing implementing and/or maintaining one or more general accounting system(s). Prepares journal entries maintains and reconciles ledger accounts. Provides record of assets liabilities and other financial transactions. Balances books periodically and prepares financial statements. May prepare federal state and local reports and tax returns. May analyze and interpret reports and records for managers and prepare cost structures for new and existing areas of the company. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Makes internal presentations as required and may represent the organization as a primary contact with management customers and outside organizations.Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
+ Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement fluctuation and variance analysis
+ Prepare monthly financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for internal and external users
+ Research accounting issues and prepare accounting position memos to justify accounting treatment
+ Ensure proper documentation in accordance with internal and/or external requirements
+ Prepare timely and reliable periodic summaries of accounting records and data including trend analysis and identification of causal factors
+ Analyze and respond to accounting questions in accordance with GAAP
+ Assist with preparation of audit schedules and coordination of the audit process
+ Assist with implementing and maintaining internal accounting controls and procedures
+ Support month-end and year-end close process
+ Responsible for observing all laws regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
+ Identifies and promotes improvements in work efficiency and accuracy
+ Other duties as assigned or requiredJob Qualifications:
+ Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in accounting finance or related discipline along with six or more years of progressive experience in accounting with a bachelors degree or four or more years of experience with a masters degree. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
+ Experience in preparation of financial statements. Must have a solid experience in preparation of financial statements and an excellent knowledge on financial reporting requirements in accordance with US GAAP.
+ Must demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of US GAAP combined with the ability to research and propose companys accounting positions.
+ Must possess leadership skills including organizing scheduling and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates.
+ Must be customer focused and possess: (1) strong technical and analytical skills; (2) the ability to identify issues analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems; (3) excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately document report and present findings; (4) excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees including management; (5) the ability to represent the company as a knowledgeable resource on external projects.
+ Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours.
+ CPA designation preferred.
+ At least 3 years audit experience as well as public accounting experience is preferred.
+ Prior experience in the aerospace/defense industry is preferred.
+ Experience with SAP is highly desirable.Travel Percentage Required:
