Job Title: CNN Machinist
Job Summary:
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC and manual machining equipment to manufacture, modify, repair, and restore aircraft parts, tooling, and components in support of aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations. This role requires precision machining skills, blueprint interpretation, and adherence to aviation quality standards to ensure airworthy and compliant repairs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
CNC & Manual Machining
Set up and operate?CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and other precision machining equipment?to manufacture or repair aircraft components and tooling.
Program, edit, and troubleshoot CNC machine operations using?G-code, conversational programming, or CAM software.
Perform manual machining operations when required to support repair and fabrication needs.
Manufacture, modify, and repair aircraft components to precise tolerances and engineering specifications.
Select proper tooling, fixtures, cutting tools, and machine parameters for production and repair work.
Aircraft Component Repair
Machine replacement parts and fabricate repair solutions for aircraft systems and components.
Support repair and overhaul of aviation parts, tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment.
Work from engineering drawings, OEM manuals, repair station procedures, and technical specifications.
Ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with repair requirements.
Quality & Inspection
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, CAD files, and maintenance manuals.
Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments, including:
Micrometers
Calipers
Bore gauges
Height gauges
- Dial indicators
Coordinate measuring equipment (when applicable)
Maintain close tolerances and document completed work according to quality procedures.
Identify nonconforming parts and communicate discrepancies to engineering or quality teams.
Safety & Compliance
Follow FAA, OSHA, company safety policies, and aviation quality standards.
Maintain clean and organized workstations in accordance with?FOD (Foreign Object Debris)?prevention practices.
Ensure compliance with?FAA Part 145 repair station procedures, where applicable.
Properly maintain machinery and perform preventive maintenance checks.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical school certification, machinist apprenticeship, or equivalent experience preferred.
3+ years of machinist experience, including CNC machine setup and operation.
Experience operating CNC mills and lathes in a precision manufacturing or repair environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
Strong understanding of machining tolerances, feeds, speeds, and tooling applications.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection methods.
Basic computer skills and CNC programming
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in?aviation, aerospace, or FAA-regulated manufacturing/MRO environments.
Experience with?Mazak, Haas, Okuma, Fanuc, Siemens, or similar CNC controls.
Familiarity with?CAD/CAM software.
Knowledge of aircraft materials including aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and specialty alloys.
Welding, fabrication, or tooling experience a plus.
Skills and Competencies

Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and operation of industrial equipment.
Exposure to machinery noise, oils, coolants, and metal materials.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
