The Army Aviation Heritage Foundation (AAHF) tells the U.S. Army Aviation story by hosting and participating in aircraft and museum tours, school programs, air shows, and other public events across the country. Honoring the men and women who have served and are serving in the U.S. Military and Army Aviation, the “Sky Soldiers” and other dedicated volunteers conduct patriotic flying presentations, public helicopter rides, and educational presentations.
The Maintenance Lead is a part of the team responsible for the safe conduct of rotary wing maintenance, inspections, and practices that ensure mechanical serviceability, airworthiness, and mission availability of the AAHF aircraft. The AAHF fleet consists of Bell Helicopter UH-1 Huey’s and AH-1 Cobra’s. The Maintenance Lead will coordinate directly with the Maintenance Manager to meet scheduled and unscheduled maintenance needs including daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections and maintenance actions to meet AAHF operational requirements. The Maintenance Lead will be required to conduct common maintenance skills and safe practices training monthly and will be certified on an annual basis. The Maintenance Lead will assist in monitoring the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) site for Airworthiness Directives (AD) peculiar to the organization’s aircraft and coordinate compliance with management. Attendance and support at airshows is required and will involve some travel. Work days for the role are routinely Tuesday through Saturday.
Minimum requirements necessary for the role include:
- FAA licensed Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic in good standing with A & P privileges exercised within the past six months.
- Significant rotary wing A & P experience.
- Working knowledge of FARS and FAA Aircraft Inspection Program.
