Aviation Institute of Maintenance – Charlotte, NC

It’s time to take your experience as an A&P mechanic, and train tomorrow’s technicians at Aviation Institute of Maintenance. AIM is the largest family of FAA approved Part 147 aviation maintenance schools, and we are seeking instructors with creative and outgoing personalities to train young students for America’s aviation industry. Over the past 25 years, our schools have expanded to a dozen campuses in Las Vegas, Orlando, the San Francisco Bay area, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Virginia Beach, and Washington, DC.

AIM is now looking for qualified and experienced individuals that can pass along their skills to future Aviation Maintenance Technicians and prepare them for careers in the aviation industry. We currently have local openings for A&P Maintenance Instructors to help teach our growing group of students. This position is a perfect opportunity for an experienced A&P Mechanic looking to take the next step in their education career path and impact the future of the Aviation industry. Classes are normally during the day or in the evening for six hours a day, four days per week, and at some campuses, three days over the weekend at eight hours per day. Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required: we provide a teacher training course to help you perfect your teaching style and learn how to translate your skills for the classroom and instructional hangar.

Approximately 60% of classes are taught through hands-on lab experience in the hangar, and 40% is taught within the classroom. Students are guided and prepared for their General, Airframe, and Powerplant exams before completion of their program, and the Oral and Practical exam at the conclusion of the program, in order to obtain their FAA A&P certificate.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must have an FAA A&P License.
  • Must have 3 or more years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance (special considerations will be given for more diverse experience).
  • Prefer an outgoing personality with good communication skills and the ability to instruct students in this field of study.
  • Prefer prior instructional experience.

Benefits for Full-time Instructors:

  • Medical Health Insurance, Dental and Vision Insurance, Life and Disability Insurance
  • 401k Retirement Plan
  • 2 weeks of annual vacation plus holidays and paid time off
  • Educational Assistance

Instructors are hourly employees and might be requested to occasionally work flexible hours, but they then will normally not exceed 40 hours per week. If you have such prior experience and meet the above qualifications, then call M. Sasso, Director of Education, at 704-293-9182 to schedule a face-to-face interview. The projected annual starting salary is $38,000 to $60,000, but occasionally higher. Our schools have close relationships with airlines such as Delta, United, Allegiant, Republic, and others, in addition to smaller airlines and MRO’s.
