As an Avionics Chief Engineer you will provide independent avionics/electrical oversight across Blue Origin engine programs to ensure sound technical design and compliance to standards throughout the development and operational lifecycle. The position requires strong engineering and collaboration skills that will be utilized across Blue Origin engine programs sites and partners to implement sound solutions that support the imposed requirements and architecture. In a fast-paced and exciting environment you will contribute to innovative solutions while demonstrating personal leadership competence and a passion for the highest technical standards. In the roll you will collaborate with the business unit and engineering leadership to achieve program goals. AdditionalResponsibilitiesInclude Act as the independent technical authority for engine control and avionics providing Chief Engineer assessments of requirements design risks budget and schedule with the Program Managers and product owners. Identify gaps between requirements design manufacturing operations. Work with project teams on practical solutions across the lifecycle. Assess and disposition aggregate technical risks across a product / program. Assess and approve technical completion and compliance at major program and avionics technical reviews. Provide engineering leadership and mentoring to coordinate design analysis and systems engineering processes throughout development verification delivery and operation. Supply independent review of corrective actions for avionics related failures at the program/product level and work with functional managers in addressing systemic issues. Facilitate technical trades and advise teams on solutions for flight and ground systems. Collaborate with leadership to define and assess technology road-map alignment with program and product needs and industry developments. Participate with other members to assess and enforce engineering process health and compliance. Represent the Company and project with key customers. Coordinate with other Chief Engineers to guide activities internally and across multi-element and partner teams to solve complex problems. Qualifications B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science Aerospace or equivalent. 15+ years of experience in engine control systems and/or engine avionics. Demonstrated technical knowledge of the full development verification and certification lifecycle for safety critical avionics and/or control systems. Desired experience with orbital launch systems and or launch vehicles projects or programs. Experience designing deploying and supporting one or more complete flight system or system of similar complexity . Personal integrity strong technical judgement and bias for action is required Demonstrated ability to operate with cohesive and effective teams and drive decision making within those teams Demonstrated leadership in an aerospace development environment Ability to travel and/or temporary duty in support of growing tempos of production and operations Ability to earn trust maintain positive and professional relationships and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum ITARRequirements To conform to U.S. Government commercial space technology export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national lawfully admitted for permanent residence into the U.S. (i.e. current green card holder) or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. 1157-1158.
