Boeing Global Services is currently seeking a Senior Product Security Engineer to become part of the Active Cyber Defense Lead - Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) to join their team in Colorado Springs, CO.

The successful candidate will lead the development, implementation, and sustainment of product security and resiliency throughout the requirements, design, build, test, production, operations, and support lifecycle. Leads the development and enhancement of system requirements and architectures for product security to meet all applicable certification and customer requirements. Ensures security of facilities, equipment, tools, data, networks, and resources used for product: design, development, build, test, storage, delivery, operations, and support. Leads the definition and identification of product security requirements for suppliers of components and subsystems for integration into complex Boeing products and services. Leads coordination with governments, customers, suppliers, and industry to identify risks and improve industry and regulatory security standards and requirements for programs and interfacing systems. Leads research and development activities resulting in innovative solutions. Leads the advisement of customers on maintaining product security and certification, including security consequences of modifying products and services. Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development, implementation, and sustainment of product security and resiliency throughout the requirements, design, build, test, production, operations, and support lifecycle.
  • Leads the development and enhancement of system requirements and architectures for product security to meet all applicable certification and customer requirements.
  • Leads the definition and identification of product security requirements for suppliers of components and subsystems for integration into complex Boeing products and services.
  • Leads the advisement of customers on maintaining product security and certification, including security consequences of modifying products and services.
  • Active Cyber Defense (ACD) Lead is responsible to maintain daily communications interface with Government and Contractor customers at Missile Defense Agency (MDA) operating at Vandenberg AFB, CA; Fort Greely, AK; and Schriever SFB, CO.
  • ACD Manages the Cyber Network defense Responder (CNDR) work schedule, training, and certification requirements.
  • This position reports to the GMD Program Protection & Security Operations Site Leader located in Colorado Springs, CO.  Duty hours are projected as standard day shift. 

This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) 

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. (Colorado Springs, Co).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level I & II Certification (i.e. Secure +, CEH or equivalent).
  • Bachelors degree or higher.
  • Advanced knowledge of system security domains (e.g., information assurance, intrusion detection, software protection, software assurance, communications security, encryption and key management, network security, certification and accreditation) and applicable industry and government guidance and regulations to produce secure systems.
  • Experience working in a distributed environment and multiple teams.
  • A technical background working with Information Technology in a Weapon System context.
  • Familiarity with network and host-based Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) and Security Incident Event Management (SIEM).
  • Up to 25% travel can be expected.
  • Held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Mentor and coach less experienced personnel to apply risk management and performance measures.
  • Identify and quantify potential risks, understand design constraints (technical, cost & schedule).
  • Identify and trade alternatives (i.e., trade studies), select/recommend the best plan for mitigating complex risks.
  • Implement/execute plans for mitigating risk and establish appropriate performance tracking metrics to track risk burn down over time.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network security anomalies, with an understanding of how to accomplish activities in a restricted configuration controlled system and networking environment.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
