Boeing Defense Space and Security is currently looking for a Mid-LevelStructural Analysis Engineer – Space Launch system to join their team in New Orleans, LA. This position will focus on structural analysis on the Space Launch System (SLS) system.

This position is a variable shift including: first shift Monday thru Friday, with rotational weekends and second shift.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform static and fracture analysis on the SLS rocket

  • Perform analysis to support Nonconformance activity for Production Engineering

  • Develop, integrate and document structural requirements to establish the system design

  • Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the products environment

  • Guide product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance

  • Develop test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications

  • Define and document certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied

  • Support in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements

  • Work under general direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 5+ years of experience in Structural Analysis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience using NASTRAN/PATRAN software package

  • Experience using ABAQUS software package

  • Experience using NASGRO software package

  • Experience in Fracture or Fatigue

  • Experience using CAD packages including CREO

  • Experience in Aerospace or Spacecraft design and analysis

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
