Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is in need of a Shock & Vibration (S & V) Engineering & Lab Manager (Level K) to support the Hill Air Force Base (HAFB) Little Mountain Test Facility (LMTF) Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Program (ICBM) out of Ogden, UT. The S & V Engineering & Lab Manager is accountable for a team of 15 Engineers and Technicians performing test, evaluation, operations, and maintenance activities in a unique S & V Lab Environment. The lab is dedicated for testing of nuclear hardness and survivability for the US Air Force ICBM Program and multiple other Department of Defense (DoD)/ Department of Energy (DoE) Programs. This position leads employees from multiple skill areas to execute engineering and program scope for LMTF’s S & V Lab Operations & Maintenance (O & M), ICBM Test Programs, Various other DoD/DoE Test Programs, and other activities required to maintain industry leading test equipment and executions of LMTF’s S & V Labs.  In addition, this position will have full Responsibility, Accountability, and Authority (RAA) over current and future Test Programs, work directly with USAF and Government with current and future test proposals and program efforts, and meeting with the USAF and industry partners regularly providing weekly and monthly verbal and written status reports and coordinate and lead future follow-on test contracts.

Position Responsibilities:

This position provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, test directives, test plans and processes.  This person will have the responsibility to lead multiple add-on test programs from inception through completion, have the responsibility for the integration of requirements, schedules, budgets, etc. to accomplish work statement objectives and be the direct interface with customers for verification and validation of test and program requirements.  Other position responsibilities include:

  • Manage engineering scope for assigned S & V Lab Programs with Boeing Behaviors and Program Management Best Practices.

  • Responsible for technical, cost, and schedule performance for all S & V Lab portfolio engineering scope.

  • Leads S & V lab test equipment operations, design, maintenance, upgrades.

  • Leads the engineering implementation of product and product test continuous improvement activities to meet product line cost targets driving first time quality.

  • Manages all staffing needs, determine critical skills, forecasts, obtains and manage personnel, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet program requirements.

  • Leads as champion the recognition of employees achievements, increased employee satisfaction, employee safety, and the creation and retention of skilled.

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

  • Manage, Develop, and motivate employees.

  • Acquires resources for project and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.

  • Forecasts resource needs and obtains and manages personnel, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet project and daily operating requirements.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science Degree from a ABET accredited college in engineering, physics, mathematics or computers science.

  • Engineering experience in the Shock & Vibration field.

  • 1+ years of experience working with Military or DOD/DOE customers.

  • 1+ years of experience effectively communicating to an audience, and presenting project status in a clear manner to leaders and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of ICBM experience.

  • Previous experience in Test & Evaluation, Test Planning, Test Labs.

Summary pay range: $129,200 – $174,800
