Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking an experienced Project Engineer (level 4) to lead a multi-disciplined team in the development and sustainment of various C-17 program digital tool projects. Primary focus will be on the Engineering Data Repository System (EDARS), a tool that will link formal Engineering Disposition/Non-Conformance records across multiple data systems, and enable a single point access for our engineering team and customers.  This system will be critical in enabling access to formal engineering dispositions within these multiple systems, supporting investigation of technical trends, identifying high drivers, and enabling an automated, efficient, and affordable means of producing on-time contract deliverables.  In this customer facing position, collaboration with our globally-located C-17 engineering team and USAF/FMS customers is required to support various engineering investigations and to ensure the continued success of our unique Delegation of Engineering Authority (DEA) empowerment.  The development of EDARS and other future digital tools will include the definition and integration of program wide processes, policies, systems, tools, performance metrics, and contract deliverables.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and prioritize team tasking in the development, implementation and sustainment of the Engineering Data Repository System (EDARS) application and other forthcoming digital tools
  • Support the C-17 Systems, Airworthiness and Digital Engineering (SADE) manager in the development and implementation of digital tools to support aircraft/equipment issue Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and other preventive initiatives and actions
  • Support the SADE team with the preparation and execution of contract report deliverables to the USAF/FMS customers
  • In support of EDARS and other digital tools, the candidate must be able to drive the definition, documentation and integration of various system architectures spread across multiple data systems
  • Leader will frequently interact with Information Technology partners and the DEA program team to detail issues and options for the continued sustainment and development of digital tools
  • Coordination and communication with Boeing Supplier Management, Supplier Quality and equipment Suppliers; as well as with USAF/FMS customers will be expected
  • Drive efforts to support C-17 DEA engineers and functional system managers to lead, drive and ensure that processes and data systems contain key engineering attributes that enable efficient data trending and performance reporting

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Education):

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics
  • 5 years or more experience leading digital systems project development and sustainment
  • 5 years or more experience with data systems integration and navigation, to include basic SQL fluency
  • 3 years or more experience working in an aircraft sustainment engineering role

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of C-17 Field Engineering systems and processes
  • Familiarity with the C-17 DEA program, Boeing Material Review Authority (MRA) or other FAA engineering airworthiness certification program
  • Hands-on experience working on USAF or other US Government contracts
  • Experience working with an airworthiness non-conformance data system such as GOLDesp, VECTOR, or AutoTAR
  • Basic-to-intermediate competency in a programming language such as Python, Java or C#

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master + 7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
