Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 2000 people in the UK. BDUK is responsible for delivering several contracts to our UK defence customers, including many training services.

The Defence Operational Training Capability (Air) (DOTC (A)), Programme (Gladiator) is the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) solution to the future of air centric collective synthetic training. Gladiator aims to establish a series of networked synthetic mission training facilities to support the development and sustainment of UK Defence Capability. The Boeing Defence UK (BDUK), Gladiator Core System and Services (GCSS), solution will enable distributed training by providing a common synthetic environment and a range of training delivery services, which will ensure coherence and interoperability across the Gladiator Programme.

Responsibilities:

The Gladiator Service delivery manager is responsible for delivering the contracted GCSS service for the RAF collective training program. Delivering system availability, and change, against the customers exercise schedule, whilst balancing technical, operational and people requirements from both an internal and external perspective.

This role is the primary interface l into the Air Battlespace Training Centre (ABTC) providing end user stakeholder management, expectation management, and issue resolution.

The Gladiator Service Delivery Manager will lead the BDUK team in the service delivery, support and management of the Gladiator capability. Key responsibilities include:

  • Manages the delivery team including resource allocation, performance management, team development, and supporting team leads.
  • Responsible for aligning and providing the training systems to facilitate the exercise schedule.
  • Provide the service in accordance with the delivery schedule, KPIs and SLAs in accordance with the contract, and reports on service performance.
  • Oversee the assurance and governance of the training service.
  • Performs the role of site focal for multiple Boeing functions.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage change to the training system specification and baselines to facilitate continued training fidelity.
  • Provide advice and guidance on all service areas of responsibility to the Officer Commanding ABTC and wider team.
  • Manages risk through effective identification, assessment, response, and escalation.
  • Promote an ethos and manage a system that encourages and supports continuous improvement.
  • Key facilitator of the operational planning cycle process.
  • Oversight of the configuration control function.
  • Implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Facilitates high profile visits and demonstrations.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar management role within a military or commercial aviation environment.
  • Experience in a service or training delivery roles.
  • Experience in leading and managing high performing teams.
  • Experienced in managing a technical service delivery contract.
  • Collaborative experience in multiple team management.

Desirable Experience:

  • Knowledge of collective training is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of synthetic training solutions and supporting technologies, ideally in a collective training environment.
  • Sound knowledge of the UK MOD acquisition processes policies, procedures and practices.

Work Authorisation:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom.
