Boeing Global Services is searching for F-18 General Mechanic willing to on 1st or 2nd shift at Naval Air Station (NAS) Joint Reserve Base (JRB) New Orleans in Belle Chase, Louisiana.

This position is eligible for a Stipend payment in addition to salary for eligible candidates.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assembles, disassembles and/or modifies systems by changing, removing, replacing or upgrading aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.

  • Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul.

  • Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.

  • Troubleshoots complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.

  • Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components.

  • Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results).

  • Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements.

  • Oversees training.

  • Works under general direction.

General Mechanic:

  • Performs end-of-runway, postflight, preflight, thru-flight, and phase inspections.

  • Performs coordinated combat turns and hot pit refuels.

  • Advises on problems maintaining, servicing, and inspecting aircraft and related aerospace equipment.

  • Uses technical data to diagnose and address maintenance problems on aircraft systems.

  • Interprets and advises on maintenance procedures and policies to repair aircraft and related equipment.

  • Solves problems and maintains aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment.

  • Removes and installs aircraft components.

  • Conducts functional tests of repaired components and systems.

  • Adjusts, aligns, and rigs aircraft systems.

  • Supervises and performs aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations.

  • Performs aircraft and component operational checks.

  • Interprets inspection findings and resolves adequacy of corrective actions.

  • Inspects and checks components for clearances, tolerances, proper installation, and operation.

  • Inspects and operates powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment.

  • Inspects and identifies aircraft corrosion for prevention and repair.

  • Reviews maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems, and historical reports to ensure complete documentation.

  • Inventories and maintains aircraft equipment.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in military fighter aircraft maintenance

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in reading and interpreting technical publications and/or maintenance manuals

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Must be able to work outdoors under all types of weather conditions (Humidity/High temperatures) with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes

  • F-18 (AM or AD) Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Navy 4790.2 requirements, is preferred
