This role supports Boeing Defence UK’s MRO (Maintenance Repair Operations) in maintaining the MAOS approvals and supporting the MRO Standards, Growth and Special Projects capability across multiple sites as we expand our capability to support multiple aircraft types in UK.

Role Overview

The maintenance specialist will:

  • Work with the Lead Maintenance Specialist, to develop and maintain, on behalf of the Engineering & Capability Development Director, the Maintenance Organisation Expositions (MOE-1 & MOE-2) for BDUK’s Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publication Pt 145 (MRP Pt 145) and Maintenance Approved Organisation Scheme (MAOS).
  • Working with SMEs / focal for each aircraft platform, manage the uplift and upgrade of elements of the MOE’s to take into account proposed changes to BDUK sites, maintenance activity scope, and air platforms supported during an exciting period of significant growth and change for BDUK.
  • Management of change requests for the MOEs and Operations Manual, liaising with requestors to fully scope the impact of change requests, sign off and wider implications across the MRO.
  • Working with SMEs / focal for each aircraft platform to support the process for change impact assessment against Notices of Proposed Amendment and Authorised Amendment (NPA/NAA) against MAA Regulatory Articles, Boeing corporate polices and processes including generation of new or amended processes for BDUK and generation of financial or other penalty statements to the Authority and/or the Business.
  • Support the standardisation and growth of the MRO areas of the business, engaging with Senior MRO Management to ensure that one MRO philosophy is adopted across all platforms
  • Review existing BDUK processes in support of the MRO and drive process coherence, waste reduction and good practice across activities conducted at multiple sites and platforms
  • Assist with the ownership and management of complex projects and integration of new ways of working across the MRO.
  • Assist in safety and quality investigations as required
  • Management/maintenance of P145 office SharePoint site and documentation.
  • Support CI (Continual Improvement) workshops as a P145 SME, identify and work with functions to remove inefficiencies.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination and management of the BDUK FOD reporting, Weekly FOD reports, FOD monthly meetings and be the FOD Focal reporting to the Boeing enterprise as required

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in leading technical activities in an aerospace scheduled maintenance, modifications or MRO environment, including project management skills, knowledge of airworthiness and regulatory systems.  Knowledge of Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Articles will be a significant advantage.  Internal candidates with high potential to succeed in a technical leadership appointment are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • The ability to: interact with senior military and company officials; work independently under time constraints and pressure with minimal supervision and manage their time effectively; excellent communication and people skills; detailed knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Ideally requires proficiency working in a multi-disciplined environment; the ability to function in a fast-growing business, proactively identifying where action is needed and taking that action.
