The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced Software Quality Engineer to support our Software Quality team located in Layton, Utah. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense Services (BDS) business organization.

Our team of highly motivated, customer-focused engineers’ partners with software programs to help develop and maintain a culture of first-time quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). As a member of this team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the right process for developing, controlling, and verifying software products is planned and complied with, and effectively improving the quality of our software products – whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

A broad background in software development practices, tools, and processes is required to be successful in this position. Experience with Agile and knowledge of quality standards (e.g. AS9115) is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be a team player, self-motivated, and able to quickly learn the responsibilities of the position. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are crucial for success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines and maintains large scale program software quality engineering processes, resources and infrastructure

  • Leads process improvement activities

  • Supports development of organization policies, procedures, infrastructure and metrics to support business objectives

  • Prepares and presents information at formal review meetings

  • Plans and develop proposals and cost estimate

  • Reviews supplier proposals and makes software quality source selection recommendations

  • Leads review and approval of software life cycle documents and program products

  • Plans and leads initial baseline internal or supplier, large complex audits of software engineering processes and associated support functions

  • Participate in configuration management activities

  • Reviews deviations and waivers to the software baseline

  • Plans software quality test activities and completion of test readiness activities. Ensures integrity of the test process

  • Verifies test results and works with regulatory agencies and other functions to develop criteria and procedures for software delivery activities

  • Leads final reconciliation of complex software data products

  • Develops program specific software quality requirements for flow down to suppliers

  • Plans and verifies of suppliers software quality systems and programs

  • Performs software acceptance and delivery activities

  • Analyzes data to identify trends in non-compliances and initiates system level corrective and preventive actions

  • Identifies non-conformances and issues corrective action

  • Reports non-conformance and corrective action data to appropriate management

  • Works under minimal direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 2+ years of Experience with Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test

  • 1+ years of experience with verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience in a Regulated environment Quality Management System, International Organization for Standardization (ISO9001), Aerospace Standard (AS91001), DO-178C

  • Experience in the Military Standards industry, military and government specifications and standards as it relates to Software Development Life Cycle

  • Experience with DevSecOps and associated tools
