The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Satellite Space Software Products Engineering Manager to join our team in ElSegundo, CA within the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space Mission Systems (SMS) organization’s Satellite Space Software Products group. 

The successful candidate will lead & develop a world-class Software Engineering team responsible for the implementation of state-of-the-art software for a growing portfolio of Commercial and Government satellite software products. The candidate will work with program leaders and managers in the development and efficient execution of integrated software plans, operational software, software design artifacts, and the necessary simulators to verify and validate satellite flight software prior to operational use.

 Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead all Software Engineering teams and mid-level managers within SMS Satellite Systems Space Software Products organization:

    • Develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for satellite software systems

    • Implement satellite software product design & code

    • Execute software integration and test

    • Facilitate software verification, including Formal Qualification Test

    • Implement simulator design and implementation necessary to accomplish the above activities

  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, & processes

  • Develop and execute integrated organizational plans, policies, & procedures, and guide the development of business and technical strategies, goals, & objectives

  • Inspire change, efficiency, risk management, innovative process improvement, and exploration of new technologies

  • Support new business development activities including proposals, cost and schedule estimation

  • Acquire resources for organizational activities, provide technical management of suppliers, and lead process improvements

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, & direct reports to accomplish organizational goals, and provide technical recommendations to the engineering community

  • Solve complex problems and work multiple tasks simultaneously; must be familiar with managing development projects and industry equivalent practices

  • Acquire, deploy, and schedule personnel to meet organizational objectives

  • Manage, develop, and motivate employees and mid-level managers; Coach, counsel, mentor and provide developmental opportunities for employees

  • Perform employee performance management, hiring, retention, awards/recognition, and goal setting

  • Contribute to the development and vision of the Space Mission Systems Software Capability 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 10+ years of experience leading or managing a software engineering organization and software activities

  • This position requires an active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Active TS/SCI

  • Experience in the satellite software domain

  • Experience at successfully managing within a complex IPT to produce results within budget, on schedule, and to performance requirements

  • Experience at successfully working with a community of program leaders, software product owners, & systems engineering to integrate software into complex systems

  • Experience with EVMS within an Agile construct

Travel: less than 10%
