Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT & E) Flight Operations – Military Programs is seeking a Senior Life Support Technician (Parachute Rigger) to join our team in Edwards AFB, California.

 

This position will provide direct support to our production and flight test initiatives across multiple military programs, including T-7, F-15, F/A-18, and other current and future platforms.

 

The ideal candidate will be a qualified ALSS technician and/or parachute rigger adept in various recovery and drogue parachute assemblies—capable of ensuring the highest standards of safety, maintenance, and operational readiness.

 

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducts comprehensive inspections, maintenance, fabrication, repair, and testing of aviation life support equipment

  • Sources, documents, and tracks equipment discrepancies, status, records, and work actions in accordance with Boeing and military standards

  • Executes end to end procedures that ensure all escape, egress, and survival equipment meet all regulatory and program-specific requirements

  • Aligns with cross-functional teams to deconflict ALSS discrepancies that negatively impact flight crew availability/readiness and critical test milestones

  • Conducts initial and recurring training, both on-site and off-site, in egress procedures through water survival training for flight crew members and domestic/international customers

  • Excels in ambiguous environments where program guidance, authority, and standards have yet to be clearly defined

  • Travels to off-site locations—sometimes on short notice and potentially involving multi-day assignments, augmenting appropriate skillset in support of external program requirements

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship

  • Aviation Life Support Systems Technician Certificate through a U.S. military service, FAA certification, or an equivalent recognized program

  • 5+ years of experience with Aviation Life Support Equipment

  • 5+ years of experience with packing parachutes for ejection seats on Military Fighter Aircraft

  • 5+ years of experience in military and FAA aviation safety standards, technical orders, and maintenance procedures

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, mission critical environment

  • Willing and able to travel 40% of the time

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years of experience in military and FAA aviation safety standards, technical orders, and maintenance procedures

  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, intellectual curiosity, and practical experience applying creative approaches to solve complex problems

  • Specific expertise rigging/packing ACES II and/or Martin-Baker ejection seat parachute systems

  • FAA Senior or Master Rigger certification or MOS/AFSC/Rate equivalent
