Reporting to Boeing Defence Australias Program Security Operations Manager the Security Advisor will provide specialist security support across a major Defence program within Boeing Defence Australia (BDA). The role will focus on ensuring compliance with the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF), Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership obligations, and Defence contractual security requirements.

This position plays a key role in supporting a Defence programs security activities across a diverse program portfolio, and providing effective engagement with Defence, CASG, and external security authorities. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively with program teams, BDA security specialists, and other stakeholders. 

The role will be based onsite at RAAF Base Edinburgh.


Key Responsibilities include:

• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of security framework aligned to DSPF, PSPF, DISP, and Defence contractual obligations.

• Provide security advice and support to a diverse Defence program.

• Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of security documentation, including security policies, procedures, plans, and registers.

• Conduct and evaluate security risks, issues, opportunities and support remediation planning and closure in collaboration with program and functional owners.

• Support internal and external security audits, reviews, and inspections, to ensure compliance with Government, Defence and Business requirements.

  • Provide specialist advice to new projects, including supply chain security, within the program to ensure security requirements are identified and communicated. Coordinate and support security investigations and reporting of security incidents and breaches.

• Contribute to security reporting, metrics, and briefings for the CSO and senior leadership


Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Experience working in security advisory, or security governance within Defence, or government environments.

• Sound understanding of the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF), ASIO Tech Notes, and security practices and procedures specifically relating to high security facilities and programs.

• Experience supporting Defence classified programs and secure environments.

•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess security risk and recommend practical mitigation strategies.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively across multiple projects.

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.


Desirable

• Relevant qualifications in security, risk management.

• Experience supporting major defence acquisition or capability programs.

• Experience working in high security environments within Government or Defence.

• Current Defence Security Officer Course and or COMSO course.

  • Hold a current NV1 or higher national security clearance.
