SunIRef:AV001 Date Posted: 2021-04-07-07:00 Country: United States of America Location: HNC31: US095-Winston-Salem (Fairchild 1455 Fairchild Road Winston-Salem NC 27105 USA Job Summary (Certification Engineer) Reporting to the Certification Supervisor the Certification Engineer will be responsible for the research planning and execution of the regulatory certification process for interior components of airplanes and installation on new and in-service aircraft as well as redesign repair upgrade re-configuration and/or modification of aircraft interiors and will be accountable for the qualification and certification of these articles. Primary Responsibilities Communicates with customer to establish understanding of customers technical requirements and convey certification capabilities requirements organizational expertise. Creates technical proposals for customers by integrating knowledge of product regulatory requirements market price point organizational capabilities and business strategy. Prepares documentation including Cert plans Compliance Reports Qualification plans/reports defining test pass/fail criteria. Coordinates activities to ensure that all agreed upon product specific certification requirements are met. This may include working closely with the DERs ODAs DOAs OEMs or FAA/CAAs. Conducts reviews of complex analyses and tests pertaining to the development of new designs methods materials and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Reviews entail advanced engineering principles company standards/procedures industry standards regulatory guidance and regulatory requirements. Provides constructive feedback to internal and external customers. Reviews drawings and reports to ensure conformity to regulatory requirements. As required checks for document clarity completeness form fit function and conformity to standards procedures and specifications. Researches regulations develops critical data and generates documentation in response to customer/integrator requirements and/or FAA or foreign regulatory agency requests. Effectively communicates with necessary parties. Coordinates and/or leads continuous improvement initiatives that involve cross-functional team settings and responsibilities. Enhances technical knowledge through training reading technical publications and participating in the development of industry standards. Participates in defining of engineering approaches and in planning/scheduling work. Executes strategies to improve certification efficiency reduce cost and demonstrate airworthiness with regulatory agencies. Represents the Certification team in design reviews. Participates as a team player across the organization and keep the values and vision of the organization. Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Mechanical Aerospace or Civil Engineering Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience Competence with Microsoft Office suite to include Outlook Excel Word and PowerPoint Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with project teams to accomplish complex projects and objectives. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to use reasoning creativity and rational analysis to reduce the scope of certification while maintaining the compliance of the product. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with various tasks involved in certification and testing of airplane interior components 1-3 years of Engineering and/or Certification/Test experience including prior experience in certification by test and certification by analysis Knowledge of FEA and other simulation tools used to mitigate certification risks or reduce the scope of certification effort Ability to identify and understand failure modes of systems Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings. Working knowledge of PMA/TSO/STC/OEM qualification and certification. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional teams.
