This position is located within the Department of the Interior Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Region Office of the Regional Director/Deputy Regional Director in Jefferson LA. The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct support to the Regional Aviation Program Manager. This includes safety operational programmatic development aircraft incident investigation training direction and compliance for all aviation activities. At the full performance level (GS-12) the major duties of this position include but are not limited to the following: Assists in the review and revisions of the Regional Aviation Management Plan and aids in the development of aviation safety programs and accident prevention measures. Serves as Contracting Officers Representative (COR) on all region exclusive use or other aviation contracts and ensures the preparation and submission of aircraft use documents. Assists in the timely and professional investigation of aviation hazards aircraft incidents and aircraft mishaps. Assists in the development of training methods to prepare operational personnel supervisors and managers for the standardization oversight to meet BSEE and Departmental goals. Reviews current policy and procedures and provides technical direction on all BSEE aviation activities. Collaborates with the National Aviation Manager and the National Aviation Safety Manager to ensure that the regional and district aviation management and safety programs comply with applicable DOI and BSEE aviation policies regulations and guidelines. The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. Salary Information GS-12: $76721-$99741 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.This vacancy is also announced asBSEE-EENN-20-RD-021(DEU)for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Competitive Examining procedures. Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the grade to which you are applying. Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-12 you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) assisting in the development of safety policies procedures and/or requirements for an aviation program; and 2) assisting in aviation safety investigations.
