Job Title: NDI Technician IIJob Location: Holloman AFB NMJob Type: Full Time / Perm / Direct Hire Due to the nature of the assignment Only US Citizens may apply Job Description:The client is currently seeking a qualified Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Technician II NAS 410 Level II in support of USAF F-16 Aircraft Maintenance Operations at Holloman AFB NM.This position is governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).This contract consists of F-16 Block 40 aircraft organizational level (O-level) assigned to the 54th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (54AMXS) 7th and 8th Aircraft Maintenance Units (AMU) contractor operation and Intermediate level (I-Level) supplementing the 54th Maintenance Squadron (54 MXS) and 49 MXS to support flying training for the 56th Fighter Wing (56 FW) 54th Fighter Group (54 FG) training mission at Holloman AFB (HAFB) NM.The Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Technician II Inspects aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods and performs fluid analysis.Responsibilities:Determine the test method and prepare fluids and parts for nondestructive inspection.Interpret nondestructive inspection test results and provide information about defects to the repair center.Analyze wear metal content on engine lubricating oil and other fluids and recommend corrective action.Establish radiation areas for radiographic operations.Compute and monitor personal exposure areas for radiographic operations and monitor personnel exposure data.Perform nondestructive inspection on structures components and systems.Detect flaws such as cracks delaminations voids processing defects and heat damage using penetrant eddy current magnetic particle radiographic optical and ultrasonic test equipment.Determine metallurgical information of components according to alloy temper conductivity and associated factors.Operate maintain and inspect nondestructive equipment. Perform operator maintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools.Ensure lockout and tag-out procedures are accomplished prior to maintenance on equipment.Perform silver recovery functions.Handle and dispose of hazardous waste and materials.May be required to verify work performed by another for which candidate is qualified to perform.Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.Minimum Position Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:High School diploma or equivalent required.Must have a thorough knowledge of cleaning and other necessary preparation of parts before or after NDT.Must be National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 410 qualified and certified IAW Air Force Instruction 21-101 and Technical Order 33B-1-1.Must be qualified to direct and carry out tests in the method certified.Shall be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of methods used.Shall know the practical theory be familiar with and be able to use manuals and sourcebooks for assistance in utilizing techniques.Must be aware of the need for and limitations of reference standards.Knowledge of all types and locations of typical defects for the fabrication methods used to manufacture parts.Current level II certification with a minimum of four years of experience in performing NDT tasks (other than OAP) on engines is required or two years Cross Utilization Training (CUT) as Level I.Prior experience performing NDT tasks on assigned engine components is highly desired.The ability to meet vision standards specified in NAS 410.Due to the nature of the job the candidate should be able to Lift and handling heavy parts required.Work Environment Physical Demands and Mental Demands (Due to the nature of the job):While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger handle or feel; and talk or hear.The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl.The employee is occasionally required to sit climb or balance and taste or smell.The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts extreme heat and vibration.The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.Other Responsibilities:Safety:The Client enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
