Vespel Technical Service and Development Engineer for Aerospace T&I

Description:


DuPont offers Vespel parts and shapes that meet stringent requirements for weight reduction long service life chemical exposure low friction and/or extreme temperatures. These parts and shapes many of which are manufactured from high-performance polyimide resins range from seal rings to engine clamps and replace metal and ceramics for lower cost of ownership and better durability. Global markets include the aerospace semiconductor industrial and transportation industries.

The Vespel business within Performance Solutions T&I is looking for a customer-focused highly motivated Technical Service and Development (TS&D) Engineer to drive growth at strategic customer accounts within the aerospace market. This position works in concert with commercial teams marketing and operations to lead the technical and customer-facing aspects of new product and application developments. The location for this position is flexible but will require routine coordination and execution with Vespel operations team testing lab quality team engineering R&D and new product commercialization (NPC) teams located at Valley View.

Provide Technical Support (product and part design recommendations material properties) to:
o assigned customers and/or distributors in the region and across the Aerospace market segment
o Sales and Application Development groups for existing and new applications/customers
o Operations quality and complaint handling process
Be the Technical focal point within defined account teams support and contribute to the account plan.
Perform part performance analysis and determine root cause. Define corrective actions and follow-up to completion
Conduct training seminars for distributors and customers
Lead/support technical programs at customers/distributors to achieve technical qualification for future commercialization
Lead/coordinate product evaluations data generation programs laboratory designed functional testing
Continuously develop expertise in end-use applications to best support our customers
Prepare/contribute to product literature sales tools and case stories for new and existing products
Write and publish technical papers/articles for selected conferences/tradeshows
Provide input to business and marketing strategy for Aerospace segment
Continuously apply innovative approach to customer solutions/processes/ways of doing things
Compile document and communicate value-in-use information competitive intelligence and related items to continuously improve our competitive advantage
Provide Technical Support to global and regional programs within the COE (Centers of Excellence) concept if applies
Lead and/or contribute to PACE programs providing VOC (Voice Of the Customer) technical expertise etc as needed to develop new products and/or applications to meet customer needs if applies
Plays a central role in the New Part Commercialization process in translating customer requirements (e.g. part dimensions tolerances critical characteristics material specification) to the business for accurate part drawings quotes and timely delivery of new part orders

US Citizen due to export control considerations
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Materials Science or equivalent
5+ years of aerospace technical experience
Proven ability to work in teams and network across different business functions to drive programs (product group operations quality supply chain sales marketing etc.)
Demonstrates initiative drive and ability to follow through on complex tasks and timelines
Excellent personal interaction skills and ability to work as a team member with a diverse group of people in R&D commercial and manufacturing
Ability to connect with customers and build lasting relationships
Demonstrated excellence in communicating technical information to a broad audience
Knowledge and expertise in the polymer composite fabrication processes
Experience with thermoplastic/thermoset resin such as polyimide phenolic PFA and epoxy and fiber (i.e. Carbon Aramid and Fiberglass) reinforced composite materials is a plus
Can organize projects into clear activities milestones and timing
Ability to translate application requirements into material/application test methods
Knowledge of polyimide and composite materials wear mechanisms seal designs bonding and mechanical attachment methods is a plus
