Description, duties, responsibilities

Drone Express is looking for an experienced Director of Flight Operations (DO) to manage all activities of the operations team. These responsibilities include the development of the operations team, budget and overall compliance for all 14 CFR part 135 requirements. To be successful as a Director of Flight Operations (DO), you should have prior high-level organizational leadership experience, be able to collaborate with senior management, and be a strategic problem-solver.

About the Company: Drone Express is a fast-growing last-mile logistics company that uses airborne autonomous drones for local package delivery. Drone delivery provides low-cost same-day delivery for retailers nationwide that is contact-less, safe and eco- friendly. Drone Express is currently receiving a Type Certificate for its aircraft and is also pursuing its Part 135 Operating Certificate. As a member of the FAA BEYOND program, Drone Express is working to safely integrate drones into the National Airspace System. Additionally, Drone Express has partnered with several large nationwide retailers including The Kroger Company and Papa Johns. Drone Express is a division of the telecommunication company TELEGRID.

Director of Flight Operations (DO) Responsibilities:

• Ensure all company flight operations are conducted in a responsible manner, with the highest regard for safety, compliance, and service standards.
• The Chief Pilot, Director of Maintenance, and all operational personnel report to and are accountable to the Director of Flight Operations (DO) for all 14 CFR part 135 requirements.
• Maintain a working relationship with the FAA Certificate Holding District Office.
• Recruit, hire, and train company personnel according to company and operational requirements
• Ensure compliance with all appropriate flight operations part 135 regulation.

Director of Flight Operations (DO) Requirements:

• Have at least 3 years supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under part 121 or part 135 of this chapter; or

(2) In the case of a person becoming Director of Operations -

(i) For the first time ever, have at least 3 years experience, within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135 of this chapter.

(ii) In the case of a person with previous experience as a Director of Operations, have at least 3 years experience, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135 of this chapter.

• Understanding of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and industry best practice.

Bonus Qualifications:

• An airline transport pilot certificate is a bonus qualification but not required.
