Description: Oversees junior maintenance personnel assigned to them. Performs and supervises line maintenance, component level bench maintenance and avionics equipment installation in support of Bemidji Aviation fleet operations and/or customer aircraft. Troubleshoots, repairs and services aircraft and engine electrical systems. Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions. Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, FAA regulation and BASI Maintenance Manual(s). Maintains FAA and BASI required records, manuals and inspection forms.

Supervisory Responsibility: This is a limited supervisory position. The Lead Avionics Technician may assist the Director of Maintenance in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, yearly reviews, raise recommendations, etc. of subordinate avionics team members.
Work Environment: This job operates approximately 80% of the time inside a climate-controlled building and approximately 20% of the time outside in all types of weather.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; climb up and down stairs; bend/stoop; occasionally push/pull and lift weight up to 80 lbs.; use hands to grasp, finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. On rare occasions may be required to crawl, use fine manipulations, kneeling and repetitive motion.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position with an expectation of occasional evening and weekend hours as job duties demand.
Travel: Some travel will be expected with this position (E.G. off-site training, Maintenance personnel occasionally travel via ground transportation or by flying to remote locations to work on aircraft, etc.).
Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required - BS/BA preferred. Valid driver’s license. At least five years of pertinent experience with avionics Previous experience in supervision/management strongly preferred. Previous experience in a Part 135 or Part 121 environment strongly preferred. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office programs.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Must be able to obtain an MSP airport SIDA badge (be able pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49CFR1542.209) and able to read blueprint and electrical schematics required.
