+ Typically requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration or related field and eleven or more years progressive experience with a bachelor’s or nine years or more with a master’s with at least five of those years managing in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
+ Must demonstrate expertise in SAP ERP/MRP logic and have strong computer and analytic skills.
+ High proficiency in Excel or similar analytic tools.
+ Must demonstrate a thorough expertise of production material control and purchasing principles theories and concepts.
+ Must be able to provide leadership and direction to professional staff and lower management levels.
+ Must be customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to identify issues analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex problems using a high degree of independent judgment; (2) excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately document report and present findings to a variety of internal and external audiences; (3) excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees; (4) the ability to effectively and efficiently initiate plan budget and manage projects; (5) the ability to develop and administer budgets schedules and performance standards; and (6) excellent computer skills.
+ Ability to work independently on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.

GA’s Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group focuses on the military and commercial applications of advanced electromagnetic technologies including power generation and distribution magnetic levitation and systems design and engineering. The EMS Group supports government customers which include the Department of Defense Department of Energy and the Department of Transportation. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Production and Material Control Manager in our EMS Group in Rancho Bernardo CA.
This position is responsible for planning and managing performance of the production and material control department(s) typically through experienced professional staff or subordinate manager(s). The position manages some or all phases of production and material control to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. In consultation with executive management develops and implements annual and long-term schedule quality business and financial objectives for the unit(s) and participates in and contributes to the development of annual and long-term objectives. May be responsible for decisions that have an impact on work processes and outcome where erroneous decisions could result in serious delays in projects and/or operations. Participates in defining production planning material control and administration of the designated ERP tools in support of program schedules.Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Provides leadership and directs all activities of the planning support unit(s) including planning and managing performance to ensure quality business and financial objectives are obtained.
+ Manages all phases of the department(s) task execution including planning and recommending policies and procedures to ensure department objectives are attained.
+ Participates in the development interpretation and implementation of manufacturing policies and practices while participating in determining and implementing necessary changes.
+ Participates in developing and implementing annual and long-term objectives and monitors adherence to plans and objectives.
+ Ensures the scheduling of material will meet the company’s commitment to delivering quality products with optimum utilization of resources.
+ Monitors adherence to performance standards by support groups such as purchasing contracts finance and quality and ensures issues are addressed as needed.
+ Manages the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) functions through SAP.
+ Ensures the appropriate identification and management of material requirements are established for production and manufacturing from inception to delivery.
+ Develops recommends implements and monitors consistency of processes across multiple programs to the maximum extent practical; conducts quality control audits and evaluates work standards and performance levels to ensure uniformity effectiveness and appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
+ Oversees the minimizing of inventory carrying cost and reduction of material burden contribution to meet industry standard.
+ Advises senior management of status of work in progress and identifies and resolves potential project problems.
+ Interfaces with program engineers project control materials management and/or related personnel to ensure project objectives such as budget schedule and performance standards are attained.
+ Represents the organizational unit as a primary contact and conducts briefings and meetings for senior or executive management and customer representatives.
+ Manages and actively participates in the planning attraction selection retention and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required professional talent to ensure organizational requirements are met.
+ Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
+ Performs other duties as assigned or required.
