We have an exciting opportunity for a POD Support / Electronics Technician to join our Mission Systems group directly supporting the Technical Support team in Rancho Bernardo CA. The Tech Support team will support several pod projects requiring experienced electronics technicians who are able to assemble/disassemble cable up test and troubleshoot complex electronic systems. This technician may also support system integration in CONUS/OCONUS deployment activities. We are looking for self-starter electronic technicians who enjoy the challenge of working alongside top-notch engineers to develop complex airborne intelligence systems and deploying with their systems to remote and challenging locations worldwide. The Tech Support team supports a variety of needs that include building and assembling reliable and efficient mission payload solutions for the UAV / RPA participate with EMI/EMC testing and mitigation participate with environmental testing of the payload system solutions and assists engineers in the development of digital signal processing equipment; high output capacity power systems wide dynamic range RF systems optical sensors and various laser systems.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ This position is a deployable position requiring travel to CONUS customer operating sites and potentially hostile OCONUS locations as required.
+ Assemble and maintain electronic subsystems and electromechanical assemblies
+ Recommend and drive design requirements for electrical and RF cabling for aircraft and wing pod systems.
+ Perform system readiness tests and troubleshoot wing pod systems in the integration lab and in field configurations.
+ Performing all field support activities in accordance with all military customer security regulations.
+ Participate in SIL ground checks preventative maintenance as well as support aircraft status debriefing activities.
+ Precisely document install and test operating application software upgrades and embedded firmware as required onto pod systems when authorized.
+ Typically requires associates degree or equivalent with five or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education. Training and/or experience in test or experimental operations normally acquired in the military or technical schools desirable.
+ Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure high voltage high energy cryogens or radioactive materials.
+ Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required.
+ Typically requires education/formal training equivalent to the completion of a two-year technical degree or trade school equivalency as well as five or more years’ experience in aviation or electronics. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
+ Must be able to perform a variety of non-routine tasks and demonstrate considerable knowledge of electronic procedures and principles.
+ Must be able to lift and properly move associated ground support electronic equipment at assigned facilities which will require long periods of standing walking bending and manual lifting of heavy items up to 50 lbs.
+ Must possess: (1) the ability to troubleshoot down to the LRU and preferably to the component level; (2) considerable knowledge and use of electronic test
+ equipment hand and soldering tools voltage and amperage measuring meters signal generators oscilloscopes and portable spectrum analyzers; (3) the ability to read and interpret blueprints drawings and schematics; (4) the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; and (5) strong analytical interpersonal verbal and written communication skills to accurately document report and assess situations and make judgments.
+ Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
+ Able to work extended hours and extended travel stays as required.
+ Experience with session layer protocol used on the Internet or local area networks to provide a bidirectional interactive text-oriented communication facility using a virtual terminal connection also known as TELNET is highly desirable.
+ Liaison with deployment team leaders supply personnel mechanics pilots and internal and external customers.
+ Perform other duties as assigned or required.
+ Experience with maintaining troubleshooting and repairing radiating RF systems is desired.
+ LINK-16 SAR military avionics or surface system electronics experience is highly desired.
+ Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance. (Clearance requires U.S. Citizenship and no criminal or credit issues.)
