Title:Aerospace Stress AnalystJoin KBR in helping develop the next generation of space flight hardware. Our engineers support the pioneering Roman Space Telescope the Artemis Program Europa Clipper Mars Sample Return and many other NASA missions as well as working with the private sector space flight efforts. If it is going to the stars we want to come along for the ride.We are looking to grow our staff by adding a stress analyst to occupy a full-time position at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab (APL).Position requires US Citizenship.Structural Analyst responsibilities are:+ Create detailed structural analysis models of space flight hardware using NASTRAN including identifying the appropriate level of detail.+ Conduct and interpret FEM validity check runs to verify model suitability.+ Identify material properties and allowable stress values after including appropriate factors of safety.+ Apply static vibro-acoustic an/or thermal loads or determine dynamic characteristics+ Calculate margins of safety for all failure modes either directly from NASTRAN or through post-processing.+ Simulate testing and prepare component test plans.+ Prepare and present results with supporting PowerPoint and Word documentation.Only applicants with substantial skill in the use of finite element pre- and post-processors such as FEMAP PATRAN ANSYS or IDEAS and finite-element analysis codes such as NASTRAN or ANSYS will be considered. Required Education/Experience+ BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering+ 3-15 years related experience with significant production FEM analysis experience.Preferred Skills+ Ability to use MATLAB Python Excel or other data processing tools to process FEM output is highly desirable.+ Ability to automate FEMAP processes through API programming is highly desirable.+ Proficiency in developing CAD geometry within FEMAP/PATRAN is desired.+ Proficient in MS Word PowerPoint and MS WindowsScheduled Weekly Hours:40KBR is an equal opportunity employer.
