PENDING CONTRACT AWARD
Job Title: Aircraft Mechanic III
Location: Fort Polk LA (1st Bn 5th Avn Regt)
Aircraft Mechanic III (23023):
Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance inspections and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported. Capable of performing supervising and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is IIs and IIIs. A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls engines hydraulics pneumatics fuel systems and mechanical components and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment torque wrenches dial indicators micrometers cable tensiometers sheet metal brakes and sheers etc. is required. Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- All mechanic IIIs will possess either a FAA license or equivalent military service school certificate of training in aviation maintenance.
- A minimum of one Mechanic III shall be familiar with the operation and maintenance of the Aircraft Notebook (ACN) Intervehicle Health Monitoring System (IVHMS) and Enhanced Digital Ground Station (EDGS) servers that US Army aircraft data is stored on as well as knowledge/familiarity of the software updates and software maintenance required to maintain the system in working order. This Mechanic III will adhere to all requirements and certifications as outlined in DoDD 8570.01 DoD 8570.01-M and AR 25-2.
- One Mechanic III shall have experience to conduct HAZMAT/ OSHA inspections to ensure contractor maintenance program is in compliance with OSHA standards as well as handle issue and manage HAZMAT materials/ pharmacy in support of CFT maintenance effort. In addition the mechanic shall conduct spill response training and be responsible for confined space entry training/certification and all OSHA required training for CFT members. In addition the mechanic shall manage and issue all Government furnished personal protective equipment (PPE).
- One shall have the experience to oversee the Quality Assurance (QA) shop.
- Two shall have the experience to oversee the Production Control (PC) shop.
TASK REQUIREMENTS:
- Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure landing gear flight surfaces and controls anti-icing pneumatic hydraulic engines auxiliary power unit and ventilation and heating systems.
- Repair replace and rebuild aircraft structures such as fuselage and functional components including rigging surface controls and plumbing and hydraulic units using hand tools power tools machines and equipment such as shears sheet metal brake rivet gun and drills.
- Read and interpret manufacturers maintenance manuals service bulletins technical data engineering data and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Perform phase scheduled unscheduled periodic and other hourly or calendar inspections.
- Use chemical treatment process to etch and alodine parts.
- Use chemical sealants.
- Requisition repair parts materials and consumable supplies through military supply system.
- Lead and direct small maintenance teams.
- Perform other tasks as directed.
- H-60 qualification and/or experience.
- Five to ten years leadership experience.
- Eight or more years rotary wing experience.
- Familiarity and ability to use Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity and ability to use military tech manuals.
- Familiarity and ability to use Standard Army Management Information Systems.
- Must be a graduate of one of the following Military Aviation Powertrain and/or General Repair Hydraulic Engine Avionics and Sheet Metal Qualification Courses or civilian equivalent.
- At least five years of experience on military rotorcraft.
- Must be able to work 1st 2nd or 3rd shift schedule as required.
- Must be able to work flexible work-week schedules i.e. M-F Tues-Sat Sun-Th or as required.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to obtain a favorable National Agency Check.
- Must be able to climb ladders raised platforms and aircraft.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools.
- Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
- Must have own tools.
- Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.
Compensation
$41.33/hour
Other Compensation
Employees will receive a minimum health and welfare fringe benefit of $2.65 for every hour paid up to 40 hours per week.

Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
