Will be responsible for the technical support during integration, testing and maintenance of the AEGIS Weapon System (AWS) SPY Signal Processor during AEGIS New Construction Test Program, aboard DDG51 Class DESTROYERS at the AEGIS Test Team Bath, ME. The SPY Signal Processer & Antenna Technician (SPY SIGPRO) will ensure the SPY Radar Signal Processor/Antenna Group is operable and available. The SPY SIGPRO Technician will coordinate with the SPY Radar Systems Engineer for signal processor/antenna matters and assists in identifying, isolating and repairing signal processor/antenna equipment problems. Will ensure system elements are activated, operational, available and properly configured to support testing events as scheduled.
Field experience in electronic repair/shipboard installation. Ability to work in a multi-corporate team setting and have experience working in a dynamic environment that requires change on extremely short notice. Experience finding solutions to challenging issues while under pressure. Candidate must have an understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in field repair. Proficiency in reading technical documentation. Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts require strong communication skills. 25-35% travel will be required and can be expected in support of AEGIS Modernization availabilities conducted at locations outside of Bath, Me. Will be subject to drug screening as per company policy.
Graduate of military or civilian electronic and/or technical school plus experience is desirable. Proven ability to work with associated contractors, Navy crewmembers and other government personnel. Prior NAVY at sea and SPY Signal Processor experience aboard AEGIS CG and DDG. Knowledge of/or experience in other functional equipment areas of the AEGIS Weapon System. BMD experience a plus.
