This Position is located at The Toronto Pearson International Airport
The Safety Security and Training Officer will be providing guidance on MA safety security and training policies and SOPs in addition to any legislation as may be set by local Providence and Federal regulations. The job role is related to ground handling and cargo operations performed within the relevant business unit.
Driving the ‘Safety and Security First’ culture throughout the station.
Actively promote the companies Safety and Security Management Systems.
Ensure safety and security policies and consistent training standards are implemented within the station.
Ensure Environmental Standards and Policies as described in Menzies Manuals and local legislation are met by Menzies Aviation within the station.
Implement Menzies Aviation safety security and training policies and procedures as laid down in the Eight Pillars of Management.
Plan and coordinate training workflow and determine operational training priorities within the station.
Plan and coordinate the implementation of safety security and training priorities within the station in order to achieve to achieve consistent standards.
Facilitate the distribution of safety security and training alerts to increase awareness within operations.
Responsible for driving corporate safety and administer field station training programs for ramp (including de-icing where service is performed) passenger services and cargo operations through hands-on and verbal instructions.
Reduce Personal Injuries Aircraft Damage and Security incidents by 10% annually.
Ensures all mandatory training has been performed and updated for all departments and that the recurrent training is planned in due course when necessary with the support of the relevant Training Coordinators.
Working in collaboration with the local or regional management team in developing policies procedures ensuring safe systems of work processes are established and facilitate coaching and training to enhance operational safety knowledge of applicable Health and Safety Legislation.
Conduct and/or assist in Health Safety and Security accidents and / or incident investigations when – necessary.
Conduct onsite auditing and quality inspections within all areas of the business.
Attend weekly monthly and quarterly safety and security meetings with our airline customers and represent Menzies through the airports Safety Forums as considered by the Station Manager.
Supporting the field operation to introduce safe and secure working procedures and proactive audit daily inspections and audits programs
High school diploma with at least three years of experience in ramp/cargo operations.
Experience in environmental safety industrial hygiene or related field preferred.
Formal OSHA or similar Safety Certification desired
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and legally able to work in Canada
Must be able to obtain and hold all required security clearances
Must have valid Provincial Driver’s License and have a DA
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels including program development and presentation Skills.
Must be able to work extended hours on short notice when required.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word and presentation software programs.
Ability to plan and implement programs
A working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues.
Understanding of the wider airport operational environment.
Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs when required.
Experience and understanding of the commercial issues in aviation.
Ability to travel for periods of time occasional at short notice both domestically and international.
Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends holidays and days off if necessary.
Experience of Health and Safety management.
