The selectee for this position will serve as a Supervisory Deputy Public Works Officer in the Public Works Department (PWD) of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Make decisions on work problems presented by lower level supervisors team leaders or by contractors.
Make required decisions to effectively complete workload according to established priorities and procedures.
Use sound judgment to simultaneously integrate and weigh situational constraints risks and rewards.
Manage the Facilities Management and Sustainment Programs to provide products and services in support of its customers.
Plan and execute maintenance and repair of real property facilities to be accomplished by employees in a timely and efficient manner.

Occasional travel - This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education training and experience. This position has been identified as a Facilities Engineering Career Field at Level III. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Participating in current and long-range planning meetings to ensure that goals and objectives are fully and effectively related; 2) Directing controlling and coordinating all operations within the PWD by using a broad knowledge of facilities management along with years of experience working in facilities/real property management; 3) Assuring quality and timeliness of work while incorporating best business practices and focusing on process improvement; 4) Coordinating assets for planning and scheduling work while providing expert advice regarding difficult and unique facility management issues; 5) Interacting with union officials in accordance with the negotiated agreements between NAVFAC Southwest and the Unions.
