The Chief Pilot US is responsible and accountable to the Operations Manager for all pilots operating aircraft registered and operated under the Federal Aviation Regulations of the United States. The Chief Pilot – US shall work collaboratively with the Chief Pilot to fulfill the following responsibilities.The Chief Pilot role will oversee 2 pilots and work with one dedicated engineer. The operation is based in Waukegan and is primarily an executive transportation department. We support the needs of our executives and provide travel for them across North America but primarily in the continental US. The schedule is usually booked in advance as it adjusts around their meeting requirements. Additionally we do support the emergency response teams should an event occur.The aircraft usually flies 450 hours a year and you can expect to be away from home between 70‑90 days a year. We operate a 2006 Cessna Citation Sovereign that we have owned since new. We are in the process of evaluating a replacement aircraft that will be a slightly larger.The Waukegan base operates in conjunction with our Canadian operations. We have a Gulfstream 450 based in Calgary and a 550 based in Saskatoon with the same mission statements. Together we form the Aviation Department for Nutrien. Our goal is to act as one team in supporting the companys business needs.The selected candidate will help form that team and aide in our direction forward.What Youll Do:Control operations and operational standards of all US aircraft operatedCoordinate with the Operations Manager Chief Pilot and Senior Manager Aircraft Maintenance Manager for managing functions which impact operational control (maintenance crew scheduling load control equipment scheduling)Actively support the safety management systemValidate and address safety‑risk management deficiencies in an appropriate and timely mannerEnsure that all operations processes and procedures include the risk management mitigation specified in the safety management systemLiaise with US regulatory authority on all matters concerning flight operationsLiaise with any US based external agencies which may affect aircraft operationsEnsure that flight operations and aircraft maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with all applicable safety regulations national and international regulations standards and company operations policiesEnsure that crew scheduling complies with the flight and duty time limitations found in the Operations ManualEnsure that all crew members are kept informed of any changes to the FARs and related operating standardsReceive and take action with respect to any aeronautical information affecting the safety of flightDisseminate aircraft safety information both internal and externalEnsure that flight crew qualifications are currentMaintain a current operations libraryOversee the welfare of the flight operations personnelEnsure the personnel under his/her authority participate effectively in the safety management systemWhat Youll Bring:Bachelors degree in aviation management business administration or a related field preferred15+ years of professional aviation experience5 years of previous aviation management experience of similar scopeFAA ATP LicenseMinimum Total Flight Time 7000 hoursMinimum of 4000 hours Pilot in CommandMinimum of 2000 hours Jet experienceMinimum of 100 hours in multi‑crew cockpitSuper mid‑size/large jet experience and experience flying internationally are a strong asset. Currency/Experience on Citation Sovereign is considered beneficialFAA First Class MedicalAbility to cross International BordersNo incidents or accidents under the FARsNo convictions that would prevent holding a drivers license or ATPLSalary:The salary range for this role in Illinois is between $169100 - $265650. While we provide this range as general guidance several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including but not limited to candidate skill set experience and training licensure and certifications work location and other business and organizational needs.
