Description, duties, responsibilities
Assist the Aircraft Records Supervisor in maintaining an aircraft maintenance recordkeeping system that complies with the requirements of Pentastar Aviation’s repair station manual system and records retention requirements of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). Assist in the maintenance forecasting and record retention systems for all aircraft managed by Pentastar Aviation, Inc. This includes aircraft operated under FAR part 91 and 135. The record retention systems for the aircraft must comply with the applicable FAR requirements.
A. Assists in maintaining the organized retention system for aircraft historical maintenance records in a standardized manner that complies with application FAR record retention requirements.
B. Assists in maintaining the master log of aircraft total time and landings for aircraft managed by Pentastar Aviation, Inc. and operated by Pentastar Aviation Charter, Inc. (PACI) under FAR 135. Corrects aircraft flight log hour and landing entries (for all PA managed aircraft) to ensure compliance with the applicable FAR requirements.
C. Ensures that all aircraft historical records required to be kept by applicable FAR requirements are made available for inspection by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or the National Transportation Safety Bureau (NTSB).
D. Ensures that all maintenance work order forms, work cards, etc., are audited at work order closeout for omissions and erroneous entries. Coordinates necessary corrective actions with a supervisor or individuals as may be required.
E. Translates entries on completed maintenance documents into intelligible plain language form or into coded form for electronic data transmittal without changing the true meaning of the work performed. Generates airframe, Powerplant, propeller and/or auxiliary power unit permanent record (logbook) entries by computer means in order to satisfy the requirement of the FAR, the Pentastar Aviation manual system, and outside customer requirements.
F. Processes FAA Airworthiness Directive compliance data and FAA form 337 Major Alteration and Repair data.
G. Assists in the processing of aircraft maintenance compliance data via electronic data or direct mail to contracted computerized maintenance tracking companies. Audits aircraft maintenance tracking record database updates that are performed by contracted computerized maintenance tracking companies.
H. Assists with maintenance of the computerized tracking systems which provide consolidated maintenance due list reports for all PA managed aircraft (including PACI FAR part 135 aircraft).
I. Ensures timely updating of computerized maintenance tracking programs (based on aircraft utilization and maintenance accomplished) Ensure timely distribution of updated reports to the Maintenance Planner and Authorized Inspectors.
J. Assists in providing coverage for the customer lobby area.
K. Other tasks as assigned.
• FAA Mechanic Certificate with A&P ratings required
• In-depth knowledge of aviation maintenance terminology required
• Two years aviation related record–keeping experience preferred
• Experience with Word and Excel spreadsheet application required
• College degree in Aviation/Business a plus
• Knowledge of Corridor software a plus
• Knowledge of C.A.M.P., CMP.net, AvTrak, and CESCOM maintenance tracking programs a plus
• Corridor and Microsoft Access (step grabber) a plus
• Must possess excellent math and data entry skills
• Must demonstrate a high level of initiative, self-motivation and attention to detail at all times.
• Ability to positively interact with all co-workers and customers
• Work schedule flexibility in order to meet customer deadlines (occasional 5a.m. or 11p.m. or weekends)
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Upon completion of initial training for above Major Duties, obtain the training necessary to become a Limited Inspector, and serve in this additional capacity (refer to separate position description) from time to time as assigned or as otherwise available.
B. Perform Preliminary Inspections of aircraft coming into the repair station for maintenance.
C. Assist other Inspectors in completion of conformity inspections of new aircraft.
D. Assist the Quality Control Department when it comes to coverage required due to absence of Authorized Inspectors.
E. Assist in the performance of receiving inspections of parts and materials coming into the repair station.
F. Perform RII and/or CSF tasks when assistance may be required by Maintenance Department personnel.
G. Other duties as assigned.
