POSITION SUMMARY:

The Drone Pilot will fill a key role in providing and managing all drone flights imagery and software to ensure both Engineering and Project teams are getting maximum value out of the drone flights. This role will require precise and diligent coordination with all pertinent departments to ensure that all flight plans and uploaded data are meeting the required field verification. The Drone Pilot position is responsible for understanding preparing and executing mapping flights on our projects. Once a project has been assigned the Drone Pilot will prepare a mission plan which includes dates requested a KML of the flight area and any obstacles to flight such as airspace restrictions tall objects or inaccessible areas. The Drone Pilot should additionally select which drone kit and sensor best fits the required criteria of each project. During mission execution the Drone Pilot will be responsible for all portions of the mission including travel to and from site transportation logistics for the drone setting ground control executing the flight and ensuring data is uploaded in a timely manner. The Drone Pilot will remain the primary point of contact for their assigned sites when questions arise related to the flight or flight data. This is a multifaceted role that will require an understanding of the Part 107 rules LAANC waivers GNSS/RTK technology photogrammetry/LiDAR safety in remote environments travel coordination and computer literacy to ensure the success of themselves the Site Investigation team and Primoris Renewable Energy as a whole.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate/conduct drone flight site visits with the preconstruction team or client to conduct site inspections evaluate specific areas of concern and collect adequate data to distribute to the team.
  2. Oversee flight mapping flight mission data collection and upload/processing.
  3. Perform duties of a geospatial analyst while in the office including processing and analyzing remote sensing data.
  4. Coordinate with internal Primoris teams or clients/landowners for approved access to site.
  5. Assist with coordination of drone flight deliverables during the preconstruction process.
  6. Support projects by presenting requested information and answering questions throughout the preconstruction engineering and project execution process.
  7. Help identify what could be major risk items of a project and identify mitigation plans.
  8. Assist with transition from the preconstruction phase to the construction phase by transferring information gained from drone flight site investigations to the construction team.
  9. Extensive travel required.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. 5+ years of remote-control pilot experience.
  2. FAA Part 107 UAV Certified.
  3. Strong knowledge of 14 CFR Part 107 regulations airspace and LAANC system.
  4. In-depth knowledge of equipment and practices used in UAS operations.
  5. Data collection requires some physical work in adverse weather including extensive walking over uneven terrain.
  6. Valid drivers license with clean driving record with experience driving in remote/off-road areas.
  7. Minimum 100 hours of documented UAS flight experience.

  1. Customer Service: Knowledge and skills for providing best in class customer service including needs assessment quality and safety standards and to achieve overall customer satisfaction.
  2. Strong understanding of the renewables (solar) industry terminology and delivery methods.
