What You Will Do

FUNCTION: The Lab Assistant is a MCL position in which a new team member trains and learns critical MCL skills. Upon successful completion of the Lab Assistant OJT and North Berwick Career Pathways Sheet the Lab Assistant is eligible to be promoted to the S4 Lab Technician role. TYPICAL DUTIES:

Responsible for calibration Preventative Maintenance (PM) of instrumentation used in Production and Laboratory settings.

Ensure appropriate documentation and traceability for calibrations and testing results

Prepare test samples for the evaluation process including log in sectioning mounting polishing etc.

Assist senior technicians with methods techniques standards or use of equipment in the Materials Control Laboratory

Maintain and answer for calibrations or processing of samples during customer or internal audits.

Review specifications and requirements. Make thoughtful decisions to best meet requirements imposed.

Use computer equipment and learn new programs to best facilitate data input review reporting and storage.

Maintain active dialogue with other groups such as Engineering Quality Purchasing and Production.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others to ensure timely completion of testing to support production goals

Foster positive communication and attitude with coworkers and customers

Perform other duties as assigned by supervision to meet business needs.

This is an S2 2nd shift ( 4 x 10) 3:00pm to 1:00am Monday-Thursday

Qualifications You Must Have

High School or General Equivalency Diploma

1+ years experience working with MCL controlled processes (ceramic/metallic coatings welding EDM Laser etc.) or completed degree/certificate from a post-secondary or vocational school in a related field

Excellent computer skills

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Flexibility around shifts for training and to maintain workflow to include overtime

Qualifications We Prefer

5+ years experience working in a lab environment or with MCL controlled processes

Familiarity with laboratory procedures and testing techniques
