Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for experienced engineers in our Military Avionics and Helicopters Flight Management and Controls department located in Cedar Rapids Iowa. This technical leadership position is specifically targeted for our product line software offerings The position would be interacting with several of our development teams comprised of software and system engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-12 people). These flight management based applications are focused on the design and development of our new software only products breaking into new and emerging markets we are GROWING!

Product Summary

CAAS/Flight 2 Flight Management Solutions - Our signature products for Military Avionics and Helicopters as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics Systems fielded on thousands of aircraft today at this moment. Specific capabilities include FMS (Flight Management Systems) Performance Application System Manager Comm Flight Director and Flight Controls. Here s a couple links to more details:

FACE (Future Airborne Capability Environment) - Our software as a product used to support not only navigation flight planning and guidance with our MFMS-1000 solution but also hazard avoidance in real time as part of our Avoidance Re-Router (ARR-7000) which are being deployed on a variety of emerging platforms and next generation pursuits. Job Responsibilities

This job is focused on the technical aspects of product development related to architectures as well as the design and development process related to software development. Expectations include leading technical decisions that align with the highest standards in quality while maintaining a diverse product line portfolio and customer contracts. Our experienced engineers are involved in all aspects of the product life cycle from bid and proposal to certification and support.

Other responsibilities and job requirements include

• Demonstrated time management skills - ability to work unsupervised multi-task and coordinate work

• Demonstrated management of the relationship between cost and value

• Succeed while leading in a team environment

• Strong Technical Skills specifically in systems based development.

• Excellent communication (written verbal and interpersonal)

• Willingness to travel (domestic and international <20%)

Required Qualifications:

• This positions requires a Bachelors degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree 9 years of relevant experience is required.

• Experience in the design and development of deliverable software (production or consumer facing)

• Must be a U.S. Person/Citizen/Permanent Resident Green Card holder - Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• Defense or Aerospace industry experience is preferred

• DO-178 or similar certification based development experience is preferred

• AGILE development experience is preferred
