Step into a Day-in-the-LifeAt our Shelby Township MI facility your day begins with a blueprint review. Youll translate precise aerospace drawings into real-world assemblies laying out parts and planning weld sequences that keep tolerances tight. As components come together youll move confidently between MIG TIG and stick processes working primarily with aluminum and stainless steel to produce clean durable joints. Quality checks punctuate your flow—measure verify adjust—until the build meets spec. When a challenge appears youll huddle with engineers and teammates to troubleshoot then return to the bench with a smarter approach. Youll wrap the day by resetting your workcell—orderly safe and ready for tomorrows build—and sharpening your craft through ongoing training in aerospace welding techniques.What Youll TackleInterpret blueprints technical drawings and specifications to plan layouts and assemblies.Fit and weld aluminum and stainless steel components to aerospace standards.Apply MIG TIG and stick welding to create strong consistent joints.Inspect and verify work against specifications; make precise adjustments as needed.Collaborate with engineers and peers to troubleshoot fabrication issues.Maintain a clean organized and safe work area.Engage in continuous training to expand aerospace welding knowledge.Your BackgroundHigh school diploma or equivalent; welding/fabrication technical certification preferred.Proven experience as a fitter/welder ideally within aerospace.Deep familiarity with welding processes and materials common to aerospace applications.Strong blueprint/technical drawing literacy.Exceptional attention to detail and quality standards.Problem-solver who works well independently and in teams.Benefits401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insuranceHealth savings accountPaid time offVision insuranceSchedule10 hour shift12 hour shiftDay shiftOvertimeWeekends as neededSupplemental PayBonus opportunitiesWork LocationIn personProficiencyYou should be proficient in: Welding Setups for ProductionEqual Employment OpportunitySmith Brothers Tool Company is an equal opportunity employer.
