Systems Engineer – Aircraft InteriorsLocation: Indianapolis INType: Direct Hire | Full-TimeRelocation Assistance AvailableAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Systems Engineer with strong experience in aircraft systems design and certification to join a growing aviation engineering team in the Indianapolis metro area. This role supports aircraft interior modification projects (STCs) for major commercial airlines including cabin reconfigurations and system relocations.As a Systems Engineer you’ll be responsible for designing analyzing and certifying aircraft environmental and utility systems such as:Water waste and vacuum systemsAir conditioning and oxygen systemsFire protection systemsYou will collaborate closely with structural electrical and cabin engineers to ensure all designs meet FAA regulatory compliance (FAR Part 25) and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) requirements.ResponsibilitiesDesign and analyze aircraft systems and components for interior modification (STC) projects.Develop and review engineering drawings system schematics and substantiation reports.Ensure designs comply with FAA regulations OEM standards and airworthiness requirements.Support the development of work instructions and certification documentation.Interface with internal teams and external authorities on design and compliance activities.Travel up to 10% (domestic and international) for inspections or certification support.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent experience).5+ years of experience in aircraft systems engineering and certification.Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Inventor (open to similar CAD tools).Strong knowledge of FAA regulations FARs and STC processes.Familiarity with Structural Repair Manual (SRM) Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC).Experience with Boeing and/or Airbus aircraft platforms preferred.Why This OpportunityWork on complex high-visibility projects for major commercial airlines.Join a small collaborative local engineering team within a global aviation organization.Gain exposure to a wide range of aircraft systems and certification processes.Excellent relocation support and long-term stability.ATA Chapters (Experience a Plus)ATA 21 – Air ConditioningATA 26 – Fire ProtectionATA 35 – OxygenATA 38 – Water and WasteIf you’re an experienced aircraft Systems Engineer looking for a role where you can design innovate and directly impact commercial aviation projects — we’d love to connect with you.Please send your resume to ...@selectek.net for consideration.
