As an Engineering Manager you will be using your skills and expertise to manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You will represent the engineering department at all management level meetings. Youll ensure that the engineering design documentation and approvals meet the program schedules are obtained in a timely manner and that engineering hours expended are productive meeting program goals and budgets. You will own and continuously improve processes and procedures oversee training of staff and provide technical direction as required.

Manages all engineering activities within the department including design development production and testing. Implements and maintains overall engineering objectives and initiatives. Confronts and solves performance/operational issues to improve development efficiency. Leads and develops members of the engineering team. Oversees the project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule and on budget.

Must-haves:

  • Requires a BS in engineering related Field.
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Previous experience managing an engineering organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to motivate/work with others
  • Self-starter and a problem solver; must have the ability to see the big picture and implement changes as required
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets schedule programs presentation software.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in Program Management and Business Development activities
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively work across departments create and foster an environment of teambuilding and conflict resolution

Preferred:

  • Previous management experience
  • Ability to recruit employees; assign direct and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence
  • Ability to motivate/work with others
  • Experience with coordinating Program and Functional Management to ensure programs are staffed and supported to achieve success
  • Ability to prepare budgets bids and estimates for proposed program work packages
  • Self-starter and a problem solver; must have the ability to see the big picture and implement changes as required
  • Ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative fast-paced environment emphasizing rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
