The School of Health and Consumer Sciences (HCS) Aviation Education program is committed to preparing safe innovative and professional aviation educators who enhance human potential through transdisciplinary learner-centered education in South Dakota and beyond. We assure this by forming multi-engine commercial pilots and instructors who can apply their core educational experience to the aviation profession.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Chief Aircraft Mechanic and Assistant Chief Aircraft Mechanic in the inspection and maintenance of the SDSU training aircraft fleet while maintaining aircraft under strict rules and regulations in place by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Perform and plan preventative aircraft maintenance.

Perform 100-hour inspections annual inspections progressive inspections 50-hour inspections.

Maintain Federal Aviation Administration required records.

Guide students on the safety practices and procedures of the maintenance team and flight line.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology or related field completed by first date of employment;

Aviation Maintenance Technician certification;

Airframe and Powerplant Certification;

Excellent written verbal and interpersonal skills; and

Valid drivers license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire and willingness to travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to earn FAA IA certification within two years of employment.
