We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us to direct and manage operations of the SDSU Aviation facilities. This is a 12-month full-time benefit- eligible position. This position is supervised by the Department Head. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position. SDSU is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings that address the experiences of underrepresented minorities in organizations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervise Chief Flight Instructor Director of Maintenance Assistant Manager and support staff; Provide day-to-day guidance and direction to departments temporary workforce and indirectly supervise Aviation Trainers; Conduct evaluations hire and terminate employees and ability to work directly with HR on payroll/rate of pay/raise issues; Assist with accurate and complete training records as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations to ensure full compliance to protect SDSUs FAA FAR Part 141 Flight School designation; Develop execute and manage the budget and address financial issues; Serve as recruiter for the aviation program; Manage the admission process and student flight plans; Track and forecast student progress; Aircraft acquisitions trades and sales including collaboration with the Chief of Maintenance to evaluate and purchase aircraft; Coordinate with the Academic Advisor to provide guidance to students regarding academic courses; Assist with VA coordination and problem solving; Coordinate and manage student tours airline career events (including recruiting events) student outreach and portable simulator project needs at schools air shows and conferences; Coordinate aviation related summer camps; supervise and manage web development social media and marketing and public relations processes; Facilities management including coordination and supervision of facilities- weather dispatch ramp FAA Testing center and simulation center etc.; Support program quality including providing input on assessment program accreditation and other required reports; Build relationships and work with staff to address CFI shortages; Provide outreach to students and the portable simulator project; Develop and implement a Safety Management System (SMS). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Aviation Public Administration Business Education or related field completed by start date; Must be eligible to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position. Minimum of three years of related experience in one of the following areas: Aviation Public Administration Business or Education; Demonstrated experience working with diverse stakeholders in education aviation and/or business industry; Excellent written verbal and interpersonal skills; Valid drivers license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire and willingness to travel. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in Aviation Public Administration Business Education or related field; Minimum of five years in aviation training aviation education and/or an aviation-related facility management position; Minimum of five years of full-time work experience in higher education or aviation-related facility; Budget/forecasting/auditing experience; Experience with accreditation/assessment.
