(SEI) is seeking an experienced Software Developer / Software Programmer to support our software and hardware development activities in the areas of small satellites IoT devices high-performance engineering analyses including propulsion systems and trajectory optimization and hypersonic systems. The position is located in Atlanta. GA. US Citizenship (or US Person status) is required. POSITION SUMMARY The Software Developer will join our Software Team working with highly skilled aerospace engineers software developers and embedded systems specialists. The Software Team delivers commercial off the shelf (COTS) products and custom code development for internal and external customers. Projects include development of engineering design and analysis software for aerospace vehicle systems (primarily relating to the propulsion and trajectory disciplines). A working knowledge of aerospace flight terminology and typical variable names will be an advantage. Each project will include development of new software capabilities integrated testing optimization for available computing resources and graphical user interface design (when applicable). Successful candidates must be comfortable working in a variety of programming languages and across various software stack layers. Skills and experience ranging from embedded programming to application-level software are also desired and will be an advantage. Relevant programming languages include Java Python and C/C++. SpaceWorks is seeking applicants with 3 to 7 years of relevant engineering software development experience. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Work with a small team of software developers on a variety of aerospace-focused projects Support projects ranging from embedded systems to engineering analysis applications Support rapid prototyping activities with quick development cycles Optimize software performance for multi-threaded applications Support interactions with U.S. government and other external customers Troubleshoot and solve technical problems related to hardware-software interactions MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS BS degree in Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering Computer Science Computer Engineering Chemical Engineering Electrical Engineering Material Science or similar 3+ years of relevant experience in engineering software development Expertise with 2 or more of the following programming languages: Java Python C/C++ Ability to independently debug and optimize software for performance Familiarity with software version control (i.e. Git SVN Mercurial) Comfortable working in a fast-paced multidisciplinary collaborative environment Strong written and verbal communications skills Ability to obtain a US security clearance if required Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Degrees in both Computer Science and Engineering preferred Disciplinary knowledge in propulsion trajectory controls structures systems engineering is a plus Previous experience working with real time operating systems Experience programming and debugging embedded devices in C/C++ Familiarity with multiple networking and communication protocols Experience with automated software testing and continuous integration Experience with Python scientific libraries GUI development experience Experience with OOP Familiarity with software-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop testing processes and procedures including test plans and test documentation SEI Group is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
