TCOM a world class supplier of Aerostat ISR Systems is seeking an experienced Flight Operations Specialist who values working in a collaborative environment and is interested in expanding his or her horizons.


Narrative Job Summary:

Act as single point-of-contact and control over aerostat mission support activity during assigned work shift including direct control of all crew activity relative to aerostat pre-launch launch flight and recovery. Responsible for all site activities in the absence of the Site Manager. The Flight Director will assist with the implementation of maintenance activities on site crew OJT provide written reports and in general perform a lead role in the overall operations of the site. A small-system Flight Director (sea-based or land-based) is the senior TCOM person on location and has overall responsibility for the TCOM operations and maintenance (O&M) crew.


Working Procedure:

Assess the weather and the mission-ready status of all personnel and equipment associated with flight operations prior to launch and gives clearance for launch when all systems are go. Continuously monitor the weather during in-flight operations and recover and/or adjust flight altitude per established flight guidelines

Plan the launch flight and recovery details including flight parameter calculations (i.e. standard gross lift weight and balance vent altitude etc.) and duty station assignments of the flight crew

Evaluate lift checks and helium purity readings to determine the correct helium load for mission requirements; calculate and implement adjustments to existing load

Maintain database of helium on site and helium usage

Direct all phases of aerostat operations (pre- and post-flight checks launch flight and recovery) within established aerostat system constraints flight safety guidelines and emergency procedures

Interface with engineering personnel to analyze and resolve engineering design problems

Coordinate flight operations and maintenance activities (i.e. Snubbing operations and windscreen entry) with customer command and control center

Implement preventative maintenance procedures and ensure spare parts and materials are ordered as required

Prepare and submit written reports providing information on site operations (i.e. operational status flying time down time due to weather down time due to maintenance helium usage helium on-hand maintenance performed etc.)

Ensure TCOM Field Operations and Safety procedures are practiced in all phases of aerostat operation and maintenance


Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in related field required. A technical or meteorological degree is highly desirable.

Must have 5+ years of experience in a technical or aviation field operations and maintenance (O&M) environment.

Field O&M background must include personnel leadership experience.

Pilot experience in fixed or rotary-wing aircraft is highly desirable.

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
