Reno, Nevada
Salary Range $28.00 - $38.00 hourly DOE
Position Summary
Tactical Air is currently seeking a Mechanical Drafter for our Stead Airbase location in Reno, Nevada. Under general direction, the Mechanical Drafter will be responsible for activities involved in engineering and design of advanced fighter aircraft systems. This position requires application of sound engineering principles to participate in the program management, research, design, development, installation, test, and analysis of new and existing aircraft systems. Mechanical Drafter will provide support for the rapid modification, verification, and fielding of new and innovative technology in high-performance fighter aircraft. The ideal candidate will be responsible for engineering design drawings and CAD models of advanced fighter aircraft systems. This position will create and modify existing mechanical models and drawings using CREO, SolidWorks, and electrical 2D schematics and drawings in AutoCAD. THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION BEGINNING APPROXIMATELY JANUARY 6TH 2025.
Responsibilities
- The creation of Engineering changes, Drawings per (Tube, Brackets, Fittings, mounts) specs, Development to Production Drawings, and Reoperation Drawings among others.
- The creation of engineering documentation that aids in the release/revision of engineering drawings.
- Work closely with Engineering staff to incorporate their design intent into the model and drawings. Provide support for the rapid modification, verification, and fielding of new and innovative technology.
- Create, review, and annotate electrical drawings and other aircraft systems documents in AutoCAD.
- Collaborate with maintenance, modification teams, pilots, and program management in support of mission systems.Maintain continuous learning, education, and awareness of aircraft components and systems.
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping and additive material manufacturing.
Requirements
- AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post-high school training) or 4 plus years of demonstrated experience in a technical role in lieu of degree
- The creation of 3D part models in SolidWorks or like software under minimal supervision.
- Ability to properly handle classified materials, manage files, and maintain records in compliance with standard or required recordkeeping practices.
- Create, review, and annotate technical drawing packages and other aircraft systems documents
- The creation of 2D drawings and 3D Models under minimal supervision.
- US. Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance if required.
- Experience with one or more of the following: SolidWorks, Creo, Windchill, AutoCAD, or EPDM.
- Valid state driver's license.
Desired Experience/Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Basic understanding of Dimensioning and Tolerancing preferred (ASME Y14.5).
- Successful completion of a 3D parametric solid modeling course or certification preferred.
Physical Demands
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds (with assistance, if required).
- Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; reaching with hands and arms.
- Regularly ascend/descend stairs and/or ladders.
Work Authorization
- Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete a U.S. government I-9 Form.
- Tactical Air Support is a Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace. Pre-employment, random, or for cause drug/alcohol testing (including for marijuana) required.
- Pre-employment and ongoing physical certifications required.
- Occasional aircraft hangar or warehouse environment with exposure to loud noises, fumes from engines and chemicals, unpredictable climate (hot/cold), and electrical shock, or trip or slip hazards.
- May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous materials.
- Specific work hours determined by operational, departmental, or contractual requirements.
- Occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be required.
- Occasional travel to various work sites throughout the U.S. may be required.
