Salary range: $43.00 - $46.00/hourly (DOE)

Position Summary

Senior Avionics Lead Mechanic will oversee all functional and operational activities of aircraft electrical/avionics systems. The Senior Avionics Lead Mechanic will perform organizational, intermediate, and limited depot-level maintenance including inspection, operational test, repair, modification, troubleshooting, and replacement of aircraft electrical/avionics systems on all assigned aircraft, components, and equipment. This position will apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other teammates as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned crew in performing maintenance functions, including servicing and repairing aircraft to ensure airworthiness according to customer specifications and FAA standards.
  • Provide on-the-job training regarding aircraft work, standard operating procedures, and safety standards to personnel assigned to the work crew.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace malfunctioning components or assemblies; install machine or equipment replacement parts; adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance; repair worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
  • Install electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems.
  • Connect components to assemblies such as radio systems, instruments, magnetos, inverters, and in-flight refueling systems.
  • Confer and coordinate work activities with other technicians or maintenance teammates.
  • Operate computer-aided drafting and design applications to design avionics system modifications to develop equipment or component configurations.
  • Document all work performed in maintenance records and verify all work performed satisfactorily.
  • Responsible for reading drawings, building harnesses, and installing aircraft components.
  • Perform depot-level maintenance including, inspection, operational test, repair, modification, troubleshooting, and replacement of aircraft electrical/avionics systems on all assigned aircraft, components, and equipment.
  • Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assemblies to ensure proper functioning or systems' discrepancies and modifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five(5) years of work experience in modification-related skills with knowledge or experience in avionics, preferably in the military or with a government aviation maintenance contractor.
  • Experience with high-performance military aircraft (F-5/T-38 or other Fighter Aircraft)
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.

Desired Experience/Skills

  • Vocational school or associate degree advantageous.
  • Government-approved certification advantageous.

Physical Demands

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds (with assistance, if required).
  • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or control, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Regularly ascend/descend stairs and/or ladders.

Work Authorization

  • Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete a U.S. government I-9 Form.
  • Tactical Air Support is a Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace. Pre-employment, random, or for cause drug/alcohol testing (including for marijuana) is required.
  • Occasional aircraft hangar or warehouse environment with exposure to loud noises, fumes from engines and chemicals, unpredictable climate (hot/cold), electrical shock, or trip or slip hazards.
  • May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous materials.
  • Specific work hours determined by operational, departmental, or contractual requirements.
  • Occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be required.
