Job Summary: The Aircraft Pilot will be responsible for transporting members of the University staff which primarily will include The University President Athletic Director Board of Trustees Coaches and their guests including members of Congress celebrities recruits and student athletes in a safe expeditious and comfortable manner.
Additional Department Summary: Provides air transportation that is safe flexible reliable and efficient through proper pilot knowledge as a pilot in command in order to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations and University standard operating procedures. Plan each flight to determine the route navigational aids to be utilized approach facilities runway requirements weather conditions and fuel requirements. Preflight aircraft to ensure airworthiness and proper functioning of all systems. Takeoff aircraft in all types of weather (night low visibility and low ceilings) and wind conditions. Fly aircraft enroute maintaining proper airspeed altitude and ground track while avoiding hazardous weather and following all federal air regulations. Land aircraft using both instrument and visual means of approach so as to simultaneously arrive over the first portion of the runway aligned with and on the centering at the correct altitude and airspeed to affect a safe touchdown and bring the aircraft to a halt in all types of weather and wind conditions. Constantly have situational awareness of other aircraft traffic weather conditions and developments that could affect the flight. Continuously integrate factors of speed fuel flow distances and wind and weather conditions to ensure the successful completion of the flight. Prepare for and rapidly act on any and all contingencies that may arise during the flight.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. FAA license/training to include: instrument multiengine and airline transport pilot ratings. FAA rating for Gulf Stream Astra SP aircraft or equivalent or ability to obtain. FAA medical certificate. 5000 hours total flight time with 2500 as pilot in command. 3000 hours total flight time in multi-engine/turbine. Knowledge of FAA regulations/meteorology. Ability to work a flexible schedule.
