What you can expect as an Avionics Maintenance Technician at West Star:

Our Avionics Maintenance Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting and repairing problems to the component level on avionics units (i.e. Navs Coms Pulse Radar Audio and Autopilot Systems) as well as the aircraft systems.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Perform general avionics support items on aircraft. This shall include but not be limited to items such as removal and installation of panels and components and repair work.
  • Troubleshooting and evaluation of systems on the aircraft when designated.
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components when designated.
  • Aircraft movement and performance verification of systems.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility equipment and tooling to support operations.
  • Work with customer in project management pricing and customer support roles.
  • Work independently on projects.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e. speak write read) in English
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training manuals and maintenance data bases


What youll need to bring with you:

Your Education:

A High school diploma or equivalent. Electronics or Avionics factory training is preferred. A valid drivers license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not mandatory.

Your Experience:

1+ years of experience on Avionics repair or installations is preferred.

Your Initiative:

Were looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. Dealing with customers and the capacity to perform work with minimal supervision will also be required.

Your Sense of Responsibility:

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.

Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.

Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Maintain customer oriented work habits.

Other particulars:

Physical Requirements

Lifts 50 lbs.

Routine walking bending and squatting or sitting.

Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.

Standing for long periods of time.

Climb ladders and stairs work in small restricted areas

Basic computer skills

Mental Requirements

Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.

Troubleshoot evaluate and perform functional tests for various avionics and instrument systems.

Work with others in a professional manner.

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Avionics Team Leader

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.

Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.

Pneumatic hydraulic and electrical equipment.

Jacks stands lifts and other support devices.

Tugs power carts and other engine powered equipment.

Crimpers soldering iron and heat guns.

Personal computer and work order prints.

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges from $36.00 to $54.00. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location experience shift and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other forms of compensation include health insurance coverage life and disability insurance a retirement savings plan paid holidays and paid vacation.
