Operate maintain repair and modify a fleet of various unmanned aircraft and their sub-systems to include flight controllers communications systems software and ground support equipment. This includes designing fabricating and testing hardware components as well as modifying software components to integrate various types of instrumentation to facilitate testing of payloads and equipment configurations. Perform launch flight and recovery of UAS including preflight inspections operational checks installation of payloads (cameras datalinks and test instrumentation) and postflight inspections. Perform maintenance disassembly rework repair replacement reassembly or adjustment of aircraft and subsystems in accordance with technical specifications engineering instructions and applicable regulations. Design and prototype mechanisms or other modifications for integrating test instrumentation and other payloads onto aircraft that includes appropriate documentation to support air worthiness reviews. Maintain applicable required records manuals and inspection forms to include deficiency reports maintenance analysis documents configuration data changes and other equipment records. Interpret technical documentation including schematics wiring diagrams and software interfaces to determine the optimum approach for integrating payloads and other components onto aircraft. Requirements US citizen and the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance. Current FAA UAS Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate with small UAS rating. Documented training and operational proficiency of all topics included in Basic UAS Qualification (BUQ) I as defined in the most recent version of CJCSI 3255.01 Change 1 Joint Unmanned Aircraft Systems Unmanned Aircraft Systems Minimum Training Standards. Bachelors Degree in Engineering (or a related field) and a minimum of two years of UAS pilot and maintenance experience OR formal UAS training and a minimum of four years of experience. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Eight years of UAS pilot maintenance and flight operations management experience. Six years experience piloting Groups I-III Fixed Wing and Multirotor platforms with a thorough knowledge of common radio-controlled aircraft components and controllers. Additional operator certifications and/or type ratings applicable to rotary wing or fixed wing UAS including but not limited to those granted by the DoD FAA or manufacturer. Documented fixed-wing training to include the "Navigation" category of BUQ Level II and III as well as the "Instrument" category of BUQ Level III. Experience with DoD flight line operations and coordination with DoD aircraft with an understanding of standard Air Force flight tower coordination procedures. Familiarity with all FAA and DOD UAS policy documents especially those for "GOCO" (Government Owned Contractor operated) and "COCO" (Contractor Owned Contractor Operated) and how they apply to Class I-III UAS flight operations in both the National Airspace System (NAS) and DOD owned airspace.
