Job Summary:

The R and D Technician interfaces with all engineers and other departments including: Maintenance and Production. The R and D Technician is required to perform and assist in engineering prototyping and testing fabricate parts per engineering drawings schematics and test procedures and verbal instructions. This position assists engineers to record test results as prescribed in test documentation and help analyze the test results.
1. General responsibility and duties
1. Build setups for all types of testing including: static proof cycle endurance pressure electrical etc. per engineering requirements
2. Machine/fabricate weld parts for new design and product improvements
3. Set up and safely operate various machines including: mills lathes saws shear brake welder various hand tools and numerically controlled machines power suppliers.
4. Build tooling and fixtures per drawings sketches and verbal instructions
5. Build electrical test fixtures harnesses and other devices per specifications
6. Assemble and make adjustments on prototype or product improvement assemblies and report any issues
7. Take accountability to deliver high quality work free of errors
8. Conduct activities in a safe manner
1. Specialized knowledge
1. Self-starter with initiative being effective with the ability to work independently or within a cross functional team toward achieving results
2. Basic understanding of aircraft plumbing.
3. Basic understanding of hydraulics and the use of them in test procedures.
4. Basic knowledge of refrigeration.
5. Understand aircraft structure and placement of components within the structure.
6. Experienced in electrical harness assembly process with the knowledge of specification controlled techniques such as soldering and crimping.
7. Knowledge in the use of NC machines. Knowledge of CAD and CAM and use in making shop aids and machining functions.
8. Have a thorough understanding of drawings and schematics related to engineered product and parts.
9. Ability to weld using various equipment (MIG/TIG/Gas/Arc).
1. Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree (B.S. in Industrial Aeronautical Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred) with 5years in a related experience or +10 years in related experience without B.S.
2. Drafting experience and computer skills
3. Familiar with aerospace procedures tools and hardware MIL specs.
4. Knowledge of electricity circuit construction electromechanical components integration
5. Familiar with test setups and related data acquisition devices and equipment
6. Good mechanical aptitude assumed
1. Language Skills
Ability to read analyzes and interprets general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.
1. Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundaments of plain and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
1. Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
